2000 mazda protege 1.6L
OK, So i'v hit a bit of a wall with my 1.6L protege I dont know what to do next. So far i have a port and polished cylinder head, header, intake, exhaust, bigger throttle body. I also have brand new injectors I cant really remember the size of them tho does anyone know the sizes?,a new spec stage 3 clutch and megasquirt II system sitting in my garage so whats next what else do i need to make all this run smoothly and to get maximum power?

Maximum power? Sell it buy a car with a better motor. Honestly you won't see a lot of power without boosting it

sub? Ok so the car is just my toy im just doing it for fun i dont want to boost it because the car has 200k on it now well besides the new head so basicly i want some opinions on everything else i can do MINUS BOOST! Does anyone have any experience with megasquirt??? And i do have a better car i also have a 06 rx-8 but it is just my summer car.

he is subscribing to your thread to see future progress. People just post the word "sub" for short. Although I never really understood why when you can just go to the top of the thread and click on thread tools, then click "subscribe to this thread". But anyway, Im not really sure on megasquirt for an NA setup. Most of the people that use it are boosted. Maybe some cams if you can find any since you already have headwork done. You won't really get any noticeable gains without doing some serious work though

Does anyone know where i could buy a intake manifold or even find specs to build a custom one?

custom, you could take your stock manifold off and make a template of the flange to start with. But be careful though because you could end up losing more power or torque in the end. But an intake manifold takes a lot of time, research and testing to get the best performance and flow results. It won't happen overnight. I don't know anyone with a modded 1.6 but I can help as much as I can. By the way, welcome to the forum

Iirc miatas used the same cams, I'm sure you could find some performance cams for it. But research it first cause I'm not 100% sure.

the engine roars right now im telling you. I just cant wait to get the rest of my parts so i can install the megasquirt

I have one problem with the car and i have no idea what it could be i dont really even know how to explain it. Its like the heater blows more or gets louder with the rev of the engine and when shifting at 6k rpm it gets pretty dam loud inside the cab it is really pissing me off anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Dude it's a 1.6 NA slotege there is no roaring except in dreams.

Are you sure the noise isn't the intake or an exhaust leak?

Bro have you ever heard a stock 1.6L before? This thing is roaring for tiny little piece a s*** that it is.

I can't believe not one person has said anything useful yet come on guys give me some ideas or tips anything!!!

only other option especially since you already have the megasquirt is to make yourself a custom exhaust manifold and downpipe instead of the custom intake manifold and go to a Nissan forum like zilvia.net and snag you a turbo for a good price and boost it. Quickest way to get NOTICEABLE power out of your car. Even if you aren't looking for insane power, a small amount of boost will change your life...lmao. But seriously, you will wish you did it a long time ago. Because the amount you would spend on a custom intake manifold for the car, you could have already boosted the car. Just a little food for thought

but a couple of pounds of boost plus the sound of the turbo spooling up could make u feel like u are in a race car

lol, and a couple of pounds won't hurt as long as he has a solid tune and the car is well taken care of by following a strict maintenance interval with that mileage
