I just recently put in 2 12 inch subs into my P5 and I noticed that the spoiler vibrates like mad. i remember seeing a post about taking off the spoiler and putting weather stripping around it, but i can't find that post anymore. can someone help me out here

Doh! I'm worried about that too when I get my single 12 JL W6v2 installed in a week. I can dynamat the back of the hatch (up untill the point it gets too heavy it wont stay up) but I wonder how I can alleviate the spoiler rattle (if it, indeed, will), without having to rip it off. I'm worried that even then it'll still rattle.

hey yeah, i've noticed the same thing, its really annoying and loud from the outside, i have a pair of audiobahn 10's in the back...they sound good from the inside, but it sucks from the outside....can anyone help?

yup i have the same problem with my 2 10" mtx. (Also with my lisence plate, but i stuck a pencil form the inside and i solved that problem though hehe) but seriously i was looking around and i think that i seen three plugs at the top of the door of the hatch, and i believe that is where you can unscrew the spoiler. i will be doing this mod in the spring time(to cold around here, and plus im a little lazy to do it now) i will be using this rubbery/foamy type of stuff that i got at a local fabric store, its about as thick as a pencil point. i aslo thought that if ya cant find the same stuff i got, you can also use the stuff that you put under your throw rugs to keep it from slippin, you know what im talking about? i think its also the same stuff you somtimes find in shower floors, the big foot print so ya dont slip.
it may be a little ghetto material to use but hell the spoiler will cover it up and it will do the job. :D

i remember reading a post where a guy used weather stripping. i'm just wondering how to take of the spoiler. i don't really want to start unscrewing things until i know which things i actaully have to unscrew.

weather stripping works.. i had the same problem. i have to 2 inch polk cheepies but they hit. anyhow.. first i dynamatted the hatch.. thats fixed a little of the rattle. i then took some extra dynamat and ran it around the outside of my liscense plate.. so no more rattle. i then took it one step farther. got the spoiler off and weather stripped under it.. it was kind of a pain tho because the crap kept sticking out the side.. so id have to trim.. try again.. trim .. try again.. trim try again. but i finally got it. now if i could only get my broadway mirror to quit rattling.. LoL.. anyone have any ideas about that? if i remember right it was 2 or 4 screws to get the spoiler off.. an when you are taking the hatch cover off there are pins that hold it on.. the loud crackin sound that you hear when u pull it will prolly make your heart stop thinking that your hurt your baby.. but i took mine off 3 times.. an nothing is broken yet.. good luck to you.
