WHAT ARE CARS
So I am pretty good at stick now, I've been driving it for a month. Now, let's get more advanced. Not that I'm street racing (there's too much traffic here, and I can't afford a ticket, ya know?) but what's the best way to launch a MSP?

I'm at 450 miles so I am going a little harder on it, I hit the redline on accident last night. I never really take off at WOT and I wasn't expecting to redline in 2 seconds like that!!

I do not want to jack your thread, but I've got a question.

I cannot shift into reverse if I'm slowly rolling backward, say down the driveway. If I try it makes the HORRIBLE gear mashing noise like I missed a gear. It only happens if I'm rolling though.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Before backing down my driveway i have it in reverse with the clutch in and then let the clutch out and do not hanve any noises. My driveway is kind of steep.

ive noticed sometimes my tranny doesnt go all the way in reverse and ive gotten that noise, i learned pretty quickly to see the gear hasnt gone in all the way and just put the clutch in and neutral and then reverse, dont know why it does that...

stop the car first before shifting into reverse or you will grind your gears. reverse gear is not like first where u can shift while ur car is rolling back.

reverse is engineered diferently..thisis just to avoid you going from 3rd and accidentaly shiftin into reverse..thats why you have to kind of jam it in there when the car is complteltey stoped

Yeah, I've had that problem going into reverse like that. Today I got stuck going from first to second on, get this, if you feel along the left hand side of the shiftboot there's a little gasket and a notch on the side. My shifter arm clipped it and kept me from shifting into second.

What the hell.

Of course it only kept me for like 2 seconds, but you know how your mind can race at a time like that and it felt like forever.

The only reason I actually tried was that my previous car, a Mazda Miata, allowed me to shift into reverse while rolling back slowly.

So it is just a safety feature then. I had just wanted to make sure.

Thanks,
