yeah...you're fine...I should've stated, i do disconnect it when it sits for that long...but only because the alarm and stereo (just the clock) will slowly drain it over that long.
it mostly depends on the battery...i'm not getting into specifics on all the different types of car batteries, but a 'general purpose auto battery' will slowly 'weld' itself together internally over time (this is where people are telling you a mostly drained or dead battery will cause a shorter life)...and will also seep hydrogen, which is flammable, so there is some danger when jumping a dead battery...but that is not going to happen until its mostly drained, and a battery disconnected completely...with no corrosion on the pins...will hold its charge for years...
Mine has sat for 4 months of freezing winters, though...plugged in with the alarm on...with an optima red-top...and 'started'...it didn't crank it over like a beast, but it started...since then i just disconnected it for winter months that i knew it wouldn't be used...
so forget the tenders...thats for a car with a short somewhere that is depleting the battery when parked, and doesn't fix anything...just prevents the battery from dying. I have to do that with my Porsche 928...Sourcing the parts to fix that, and actually find the short, is so annoying i just do that for when its parked for a few days. I'd say don't do anything unless the protege is going to be parked for more than 6 weeks for sure...otherwise its just overkill...
