When I go to back my 5 out of the garage, I get a funny sound when I put the auto tranny in reverse. It's not really like a mechanical clunk that you might get from an old transmission or in the old days - a worn out u-joint. It's more like a solenoid or something strange. Putting the car into drive is normal, with no strange noises.
This really only occurs when the car has been in the garage overnight. The noise doesn't really happen once car is warmed up.
I'm fine with the sound if it's normal. It's one of those things that won't happen at the dealership unless they let it sit for many hours.
Sorry, it's hard to describe the sound. I guess the sound is there when the vehicle is warm, but it is very subtle. thks
