New twist to PS probs

OK, so a few people have had problems with power steering shutting down at the least opportune times. My 5 has a different problem: there is a constant whine coming from the plastic tank looking-thing right below the PS fill reservior whenever the engine is running.

Anyone else have anything similar? It sounds like a bad pulley or failing alternator (I expressed concern over that earlier - apparantly misplaced) so I don't get it.

I wonder where the PS pump is made... I know Fords have that "feature". Doesn't mean it's bad though.

PS is electric on the 5, so you may want to download the manual if your warranty is up.
