NEPOC meet: Baby Chris's Install/BBQ day- 4/24/05

Word. I second that.

I am ******* beat. I got home like 15 minutes ago.

I dont know what to say about clunking and squeaking other than to keep an eye on it for now. I know when I did mine I got some squeaking in the back. Also you are probably listening for the noises you normally wouldnt notice.

I chalked it up as that at first. I figured it was the old springs bouncing around in the back. Then when I stopped to pick up my fiance i moved everything out of the hatch and into the back seat. I took her and her sister to the supermarket and it got louder and louder until it finally settled into a knock-sqeek-knock on every piece of uneven pavement...As if the strut is lurching forward then back again.

Damn my neck is burning. So much for not having a farmer's tan this summer.

I made it back. Car is fine. I have the worst P5 evah.

The clunk squeek from the right rear is from the strut tower, and the fact that there is not enough thread to tighten the nut down. You need to to the "washer trick." I'll see if I can find the thread for you.

MANY P5's have this problem when they're lowered. I was told it was the endlinks too, so I went AWR. Nothing doing.

Good to hear you got home fine brent, I was a little worried man.......had a great time at the meet, and once we all get soem mroe stuff to install we can have another one here. I think its good at my house, kinda more central to everyone then NH and there is quite a bit of room.......

Chris

It was the exhaust, which had boogied around and was knocking against the tranny. It just picked that particular moment to manifest itself. Funny thing is, I was going to put in a new stud/spring/nut from the downpipe to the catback today, but I was having too good a time and my jackstands were being used, so I said **** it.

Needless to say, the ****** is in now.

si senor.........As soon as I saw that I was almost positive that was where it was coming from. That sucker was cocked way the **** over...........or maybe that was jsut me from the bong hits? hahaha........always a good time fellas..........cant wait for the next meet.

Chris

Thanks for the link Pretzel. I guess I've got two things to try, 1) the washer, 2) double check the rubber piece to make sure it is seated properly. I was working on the other side so I didn't see it go together.

On a side note, After reading that thread, I think we wasted a bunch of time removing all the hatch interior panels when we could have just popped the top of the seat belt assembly instead. (doh)

Thanks for all the help guys! I ended up fixing the issue with the DS-MBC. I am boosting 6psi and 10psi. Tonight at 10psi I ran my boys stock WRX from a 40mph roll and walked by 3 cars on him by 80 mph.... GOD I LOVE MY MSP!!! Only 1 week with it and Im already addicted....haha!

That's exactly why!! I had the same prolbem right after my pro-kit install. and just stop by your local home depot, and pick up some washers,so that the nut can be tighten down.
Too bad i have to work today 10am-11pm.

On another note, I am completely beat. Must have been the copius amounts of booze, nicotine, and dead cow I consumed. Eh, I'm off to the showers.

Sincere thanks to Craig, who essentially installed my gauges for me, even if the dimmer is wired backwards :D

Thanks for the link, that might explain my front knocking sound.

I never want to drive the stretch of the NY Thruway between Syracuse and Rochester in the dark again. Avoiding the pothole hell was much harder than usual.

The car seems to ride smoother than before though (hmm). I think I feel tiny bumps less. It's definitely harsher over cracks or seams in pavement though, but I don't mind.

EDIT: Oh yeah and the goldlines are much lower than I thought they would be :). I tuck tire in the rear with no one in the car and nothing in the trunk (tucks maybe 1 finger width). The front has almost 2 fingerwidths.

Cool, sounds like I missed a good time. Hopefully next time, and it would have helped if the rotors had come in. They should be here today or tomorrow. By the way, nice house Chris!

Once again, thanks Chris for letting us use your house. Thank your parents as well for us. And thanks to everyone who helped everyone else. We've got a great little community here.

WICKED GOOD TIME!!

Now that everyone has their springs, I think everyone should do a write up on how they handle, how long it takes them to settle, stuff like that.

We should definetly have a detail day before a car show, wash wax and detail all the cars. that way we won't get the "worst smelling car club" award.
