Need help for a race.

U should be able to beat him with ur stock MSP even if his chiped with 12 psi it should be a peice of cake read this article and have some confidence and watch out for ur wheel hop
i can't believe MT misspelled "Tiburon"

and damn...is that 16.28 1/4 mile time for the FWD 1.8T ? it probably is...and boosting to 1.2bar ? that's about 16-18 psi. dizzle.

oh yeah, release the clutch slowly when you start from a dig. don't want too much wheel spin or you'll waste 1st gear's acceleration, but don't want too little or you'll bog the engine.

I think the FWD is actualy a lil faster or about the same cuz its lighter but im sure motortrend is writin about the quattro

i have driven every motor sized A4 all stick, and you will definetly put a hurtin on him. if it were a 2.8 or 3.0 then i would be lost since i have never been in an MSP kickin out 12 psi. But the 1.8t is not a very fast car at all, they can be and are prolly the cheapest audi to get aftermarket parts for. but still you will do some damage to him if you are equally good drivers. if he is a bit better than you, you will still get him. Evenif it is AWD, those cars lag bigtime off the line, even if you do get wheel spin as soon as you grip you will be up there with him or passing him.

AWD and 2WD have the same 1/4 mile. but 0-60 is gonna be much better on the awd. but in the quarter, the extra parts displace the wheelspin on a 2wd

Im a good driver better than him at least so it should be an easy win.

You guys think a stock mp3 could take the a4? lol

Are you sure this guy is chipped, Cause if he is I'm sorry to say but you will get burnt. 1.8t are not fast cars but......once chipped that car is very very very fast. I owned a 2.8q and raced a 1.8q (stock vs. stock) I killed the guy. Couple of weeks later he chipped his car and raced me again.......................... I got mine :(

Curb weight for a quattro 1.8t is 3400 Lbs. he can chip all day there is no way he will beat you. I have owned a few Audis they are great cars but not fast cars. (except the s series cars LOL) If you run at 12PSI your horsepower will be very close. He can't make up the over 500 Lbs. difference even with good traction.

You should be able to beat him easily. Stock for stock our cars are lighter and faster, but if he's chipped, the mods you have more than covers for it. Good luck and keep us updated.

Well, if he has a Neuspeed chip, then he gets an additional....

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=text bgColor=#000000>ENGINE MANAGEMENT UPGRADE - CHIP UPGRADE</TD></TR><TR><TD>

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=text vAlign=top>

Unleash the power hiding in your factory Engine Control Unit (ECU.) NEUSPEED engineers reprogram your ECU chip to increase turbo boost to approx. 1.2 bar (17.5 psi), optimize ignition timing under part throttle and full throttle load, and raise the rev-limiter and top speed governor. Horsepower is increased by approximately 25-30hp at the wheels. Denso IK22 spark plugs are recommended. CARB approved (D236-10) when used with a K&N air filter, or P-Flo, if available.

So, like I said on page 1, i think it would be really close, especially if he has Quattro.

EDIT: While we have Nocar here, please explain this thread.....http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56071

I've raced a 1.8T before and i kicked his ass pretty hard ... duno if he ****** up but anyway, i could see him in my rear view mirror as i went from 2nd to 3rd gear. so i think he has NO chances with your running 12psi ... even if that chip gives him 30hp, you're still running like 5 psi higher than stuck ... should be more than enough

Well I have beat an audi 1.8t bad as well but never raced a quattro which is all-wheel-drive. Those chips give them lots of hp!

Chipped or not, I htink you can beat him either way. The only thing he has on you is the awd for the launch. The Audis are heavy and arent meant to be driven hard unless they are built for it. The clutch sucks in them as well. Dont get me wrong they are good tuner cars but a audi with just a chip will not be able to keep up with a MSP @12PSI. They probably cant hang with it in stock form.

Yea I would think that the speed should beat it too!! Im not to sure what the difference is between a regular and the quattro but im pretty sure that the only difference is awd. In that case you should take him with no problem! The car is HEAVY!!!

If the A4 was putting out 240hp at the crank it would still be 200lbs heavier than the WRX. Then consider that the suspension is more comfort as so are the gear ratios. That all taken into account, it should not be able to run faster than WRX if upped to 240hp. Comparing the stock time of a WRX to a MSP with 12psi, weight reduction, mounts, and slicks should be close if not in the MSP favior. Draw your own conclusions from there.

dude, you have $11k now, spend some money on the MSP please...i don't think you'll want to get your GF a car since you never know what the hell can happen w/ that
