Mazda Protege5
Alright guys.

I have been looking around and see that you can put 05 STi gauges in a 04 WRX. They just... Plug and play.

Now, this is Mazda. And a protg 5, and my baby is even... Worse.

I want to put Mazda 3 gauges in my 03 P5. Maybe the 04 model? Has anyone done this? I WOULD LOVE digital gauges without dropping $500 for custom garbage when I think I'm selling the car in the near future.

Xibit.. Er... Mazdas247, please! Find me digital gauges for my Protege5!

And will someone PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE HELL 2003.5 PROTEGE MEANS BECAUSE I HAVE SEARVHED FOR SO LONG AND COULDNT FIND THE ANCIENT CHINESE SECRET ON WHAT THIS MEANS. PLEASE.

Thanks guys. Continue zoom zooming.

Sounds like a lot of work and I have not heard of anyone doing that before.

The reason it might work on Subaru is because 2004 and 2005 are the same generation car. Mazda 3 and Protege5 are different car all together. Even If you do manage to physically fit the mazda 3 cluster in a P5, are you ready to rewire everything for the cluster? At the attempt to not discourage you, I am just trying to give you the insight of how much work will be involved. I would say start looking at pin-outs and measuring dimensions.

Furthermore, Try making the title of your thread specific to your problem, like "Mazda 3 gauges in Protege5"

The question is why. I personally hate the gauge cluster in the 3 it simply looks retarded protgs looks way better.

Not to mention the amount of wiring just to get it to work is rediculous. That's to get it to work, not work right

Why would you want to spend dozens of hours of research just to figure out how to do it, if you can find something that complicated compared to the differences of the 03.5 protgs. Then you will prolly spend an entire day getting it wired right.

Just so that I'm not all negative here. Dimensions look pretty similar. Haven't been in a protege in awhile though. If the Honda kids can figure out how to get an s2000 cluster into a civic pretty sure someone here can

05 sti gauges aren't plug and play completely, you want 04 sti gauges for that. The reason Subarus work this way is that they're essentially legos. I can plug an EJ engine into anything from the early 90's to now with a little wiring. It's the benefit of a small auto maker producing a handful of parts across all models. Mazda on the other hand doesn't work as easily as that.

Long story short, anything is possible with enough time and money. You're looking at a different dash setup and different gauge dimensions. I think you're probably going to have to be the pioneer on this one if you want it done.

And 2003.5 proteges usually refer to the mid year "upgrades" that were added to the mazdaspeed proteges. They got a really desirable front air dam, a bigger spoiler, and a few small changes.
