My track times

Thanks guys :).. Just wanted to give an "I told you so" to all those who have argued with me saying you need an FMIC, BOV, turbo, blah blah blah to make the MSP perform :). A lot weren't even from this board, just people in passing who think they know it all :).

Good shitski Joe. Ill be at the dyno on the 19th, and at the strip on the 11th. Hopefully I can improve my times in the 1320, and my hp and torque curves on the dyno.

Ill be running the big track too at www.beaverun.com when I can get the 125 for the open track time (damn that is expensive as hell for 5 runs. ) and see what my time on that track is again. :D

Hey Joe nice runs. But Im running the same 60 ft times you are in the 1/8th mile and my car is stock. 2.38 or better. Hey is the stock piping good for 8-10 psi will it burst or just expand.

The 60' time is only the launch- my car spins like crazy when I go WOT in first gear which is why I have a crappy 60'. Mods really don't affect that- actually, they get worse as traction becomes a problem, so I guess mods will affect it :).. I either slowly roll 1st gear, don't spin much and get a crappy 60' or I launch hard, spin and get a crappy 60' :).

Many have been running the stock piping at 10 psi for a little while now with no problems. I don't really trust it too much more past that. I have run 15-16 psi intermitently with them, but have a feeling they will pop once I run that boost more consistently :).

Sounds good joe i ordered your mbc and fp kit the other day. Gonna install it this weekend if i have any problems ill email you. I've been drag racing for ten years now i use to race VWS bugs. So im a good driver let me say this great times but try launching aT 4000rpms i did it runs better. you useing slicks or stock tires. Also i launhced at 2500 and the car didnt spool till 5000 big lag from turbo. So i tried letting the air down to 20 and i launched at 4000 rpm i ran 10.01 in 1/8th mile. Hit me on im if you like at troybravesfan.

Hahaha- 4000 rpm's :) lol (not laughing at you, just how my car would react to a 4000 rpm launch :) ).. My car would blow the tires off the rims at 4000 :).. Anything over 3000 and it is worthless- I can't even go WOT in first gear until right before I have to shift second :).. I am running stock tires on it. Stock, I'm sure I could have launched much harder, but it doesn't like it now that it is making a lot more power :). I was runing 27 psi in the front tires.

5000? My car is in full boost by 3000 on a first gear roll. Odd..

Just for the non believers, here is a pic of my slip (gave my scanner away because I never use it :( )..

Also, I know the car would go 13's on pump gas with drag radials and a more aggressive launch easily as it sits right now, I just don't want to break anything. Besides I prefer an easy launch and let the car do the rest :).
Joe

Dude hella congrats!!!!!

I'm so glad people r stepping up to the plate like orangeappeal and you and ne in about 4 months :-)

which one is orangeappeal? I think I am the only one working with a "stock" car and tuning it for what it can do instead of throwing a bunch of $$$ at it :).. I want to dyno it once I get it completely tuned and see what it does for comparisons sake.

Great Job JOE! I'm a huge fan of SMALL turbos they spool fast and you feel them so much more through the powerband. I'm glad you proved to people that a handful of mods dropped over 1 second in the 1/4 mile. I'm tired of hearing that I need a bigger turbo. I too hope to be in the 13's too. Probably not this year but definetly by next summer.

I like the small turbo for the driving experience around town, but I don't like how it runs out of steam up top. I would like to go with something larger and still BB so I still get decent spool, but more top end. This turbo will carry the car into the mid- 13's on street tires, I have said that from the start and have gotten nothing but "yeah- good luck" from people. For the cars first track outing/ test and tune, I am very impressed with it pulling a 14.2@100. I hope to hit 13's next time out. I have a couple things I want to address first and hopefully I can get it situated by weds. I just hope my IC pipes hold up until I can get the hard pipes on there :).

Joe:.....'Got a question. Actually; a friend of mine has a question about the corrected time at the strip?. Since the air temp., etc.. is differnet in your area, then it is here in the Mid-South; do you know how to compensate (adjust). If that makes any sense.

This is guy (and a nice guy, he is) drives a Mustang GT, and you know how these guy's have their doubts about our cars......

What do you think about the T28? Many people with SR20DETs (stock with T25) upgrade to that, usually pulled from a S15 Silvia, since it bolts right up.

Yeah, I know how they can be.. I do not know the formulas for temp, air or altitude correction. My slips don't even have temp or humidity printed on them so I couldn't figure it out even if I did :(.. Sucks- most tracks I go to show temp, baro and humidity on the slips...

Probably pretty close though, it was at 604' above sea level, depening on your altitude, that may help even things out.

Anyway, I don't know why this stuff is so unbelieveable to people, it is not like we are all claiming 9's :).. 14.2 isn't really that quick nowadays :)..

It is a consideration. I might want more top end though, but I am thinking about it :).
