My First Dyno!!

:
Black Mica Speed #538
I went to get my car dynoed today and boost controller installed, im running 191.2 whp and 184.8 tq:eek:  i was grately impressed the only other mod i have is the injen intake but from stoch thats practically a 40hp gain, i was excited so i figured id tell you guys all about it:D :D :D :D

what mods?? like how much psi you running and is this all you have?? damm that is nice!!!!!

thanks i was really impressed and shocked, i was leaping for joy litteraly, only downside is it runs rich and i mean crazy rich the guy started to get worried and he suggested i do an afc to lean it out to more hp

I have a question... does your boost drop with the EBC like it does with everyone with an MBC? like, does it spike at 10, then go down to 7-8?

great numbers for sure, very promising!. :)
did you get a read out for the a/f maps? If so post em!
Also an afc wont work with our cars, theres a few threads about it. I wish they did though, would be a great tool.

awesome numbers (thumb) yeah it sucks that an afc won't work. i've emailed hks twice asking if their super afr will work....they haven't responded. and it seems that the greddy emanage might not work either. kenetix said he couldn't get it to work. why did mazda make it so damn hard to control the fuel?!?!?!

cuz mazda is a pain in the ass haha (im sorry i will never say that again) haha is there any fuel controller we can use?

apparently not....perfworks is working on a fuel and timing controller...but it's gonna be $600. i don't exactly have that kind of money.

That should help you out to lean it out. Good luck with that man.

An AFC will not work on the MSP :(.. My FP Reduction kit is on;y $25 and does wonders for hte AF ratio :).

Cool, post the graph when you can.

Also, @ what RPM did you make max TQ and max HP?

I checked out the boost controller you have... not bad. Most EBC's that I found are a lot more expensive. This seems to be the right fit for what I'm looking for. Quick question... did you install it or pay a shop to do it? If so, how much did that cost? Last question... and this might sound dumb but... since this particular EBC doesn't have an LCD screen to readout what the actual boost is.... does that mean you have to buy a guage or something to read out what your boost level is at? If so... this thing might not be that great of a deal after all. Anywayz... kick ass numbers! Obviously SCC was full of s*** when they said a CAI and boost controller would be a waste without freeing the exhaust first. I was planning on using my $1000 (what I budgeted for mods) to simply get the magnus exhaust system... but this might be a better way to go.

The one thing to keep in mind though is although the car will make the power with the stock exhaust setup, the car also has two cats- one right after the turbo- they are still backpressure and HOT back pressure at that, not the safest thing to run more boost through the stock cats. It will work as many have proved, but going to a single, larger free flowing cat along with a larger free flowing exhaust will 1)help make a bit more power due to the flow and 2) help keep the under hood temps down a bit by not holding in as much heat. Any turbo car can and will benefit from a free flowing exhaust for more reasons than just dyno HP :). Hell, personally I believe a cat has no place on a Turbo car due to the heat and restriction, but we have to keep it legal too (well, some of us do :) ).
