Lets play a game who can spot the Fast and the furious quote in this post.

Oh and I have a friend who has a 944 and I will whip his ass.

I believe granny shifting was around before Fast & Furious...

I coulda added the 'not double clutchin like your sposta' but i never understood why he would be double clutching in a drag race.

The install I did on my friend's 944:

sorry man That was two separate comments the first was kind of bashing on you... The second was someone different. Only the first section had anything to do with you. sorry

See you said that the 944 lacked power like the p5. But others seemed to be afraid of the old 944 just because its a porsche.

Back to the Story.......

The Porsche 996 (911 for us enthusiasts) has no badging indicating '996' on it. It simply wears a badge: Carrera

It was a 996

The Porsche 996 (a continuing variation to the 911) has no badging indicating '996' on it. It simply wears a badge: Carrera

The Porsches that did carry numbers on the back (starting with a '9') are as follows:

911, 912, 924, 944, 928, 959

(as I mentioned before; the 993, and 996, are continuations of the 911. This is the classic Porsche to most. It is actually rear engined - not mid-engined.) The backs of these after the 911s & 912s simply carried the 'Carrera' badge.

Although the 930 Turbo (1977), was in fact, a 911 bodied coupe; the badging was 'turbo'. And; they were wicked fast! Funny thing; they originally had 4 speeds, not 5 speeds.

Everyone should play 'Evolution Mode' in Need For Speed "Porsche Unleashed" before commenting on this thread...It has all the history you need on Porsche and the handling of each of the cars is almost flawless.

(maybe a little overdone, but how many of us have actually tried to negotiate a hairpin turn going 120 in a 73 911? I'll take their word for it that the back end will slide out when I slam on the brakes cause I sure as hell wouldn't try it if I owned one)

AGR#7 is right...there is no Porsche that I know of that has '996' on the back.

Then; I suggest you get on the waiting list, and start saving about $430,000.00. The Carrera GT is sweet, indeed! V10 power.

603HP
Top Speed: 205mph
0-62mph in 3.9 seconds

This seems pretty believable to me. I raced a porshe Carrera once. Rolling start at 15 MPH... He was easily gained a car length in 2nd gear, but I caught up to him by end of 3rd and started to pass in 4th at about 100 MPH. I think he may have let up a little at the beginning cause he had sucha good lead, then my boost kicked in and it was too late for him to get the lead back.

Another time I tried an imprompto stop light race with a Porshe Turbo. HA-HA that was funny. I had never seen one in person and wanted to see how fast it really was. Within 2 seconds he was about 10 car lengths ahead of me. I might as well tried to race him in my Nikes.

well thats odvious momentum come from behind you can always win if they cant down shift quick enuf, and by that time they've lost power already..

The 968 is a Poor Porsche. I kicked the crap out of one at an autocross driving my wife's Volvo V70 wagon. Damn funny pictures and results are here. http://www.wcmcforum.com/autox/autox01/schedule2001/test_n_tune.htm

Sure, I CAN drive. And actualy did fairly well against the Miata's too, but the 968 isn't all that. I think the only reason he spanked the Speed off the line, was the rear wheel drive vs front wheel drive dissadvantage. On the roll a slightly tweaked Speed will give any 924,944 or 968 a run for it's money.

Good Kill!
