MP3 Idle Problems?

Hey Big_Ben, your girl on your signature give me some problems when I go on the forum from my job computer. Once my boss was at my desk and he was thinking that I was on a sex board!!!!!

People have been saying that. I guess I'll take it off. I'm sure Kieth will be disapointed,.....perv.:D There should be an option to not show people's signature or avitars. I've seen that on other boards just for that reason.

I think that this option is already available. Go to the Edit Options section of your User Control Panel.

That must be new. I'll start a thread about it so everyone will know they can do that for when they are at work.

I dont have idle problems with my setup but it will idle droop at times. This has been common on all my f/i cars.

Thanks for the tip about signature. I will deactivate the signature and the avitar when I'll go on the forum from the office.

Define droop. My idle will hit 200 if I come to a stop and the the car has an electrical strain ie lights and heater.

Thats not normal. Maybe if it dropps to 400-500 rpm sometimes when comming to an abrupt stop. But 200 is to low, almost shutting off.
Have you dicussed this with the shop that installed the kit or FM?
Most likely its some pain in the ass vacum leak that you were unable to source.

I installed it myself, And I can't find a leak at all. I have one thing against no one else does though, a 200 amp AC delco alternator. It alone could drop idle some but I think with the turbo its more then the car can handle and its idle needs to be increased but the damn computer just overides the idle screw.

I have been checking for Vac leaks and intake leaks since I put the kit on and I only found one once and nothing since then.

I think the alternator may be an issue becuase its electrical components that realy freak out the idle. If I have the lights on and the heater on 2 I will drop to 200-300 everytime I stop. This is with the idle screw way out. If I put it back to factory the car will stall.

The FPR squeels some so that may be infact the leak. This is my idea no one else seems to think it could be cuaseing the idle problem. I have talked to both Corky and FM about it and I am lost at this point. Fuel is fine, the cars vac is at 21-22 when teh engine is warm, I can't find a leak and the car boost right to 8 psi with no problems.

We have failed to duplicate any idle problems with our own car, which makes it hard to diagnose what's up with your own. You can't tell the car's not stock at idle, and we haven't had to do anything to get it that way. We'll see how Chris' car behaves next week.

By the way, has anyone noticed that Big Ben's little friend seems to have her legs rotating?

Keith

You fixing to be turboed?

You know it...Got the box Friday afternoon from the good ol' UPS guy. Monday morning after work (provided the weather stays non-snowy) I will be on the path to Grand Junction once again. Only this time, instead of interesting ECU swappage and stock dynos, it will be for boost and the all mighty turbo dyno.

That's why my sig changed to inlcude in the future mods: "FM Protege Turbo Kit."

Plus, I get to go drool all over the Track Dog again and try to figure out where they hid the race gas...Oh wait, I mean have the guys who know this kit outside in, put it on.

Sweet! Are you the 1st with the FM kit? Can't wait for the dyno!

I think I might be the first with the FM kit. I know I'll be kind of the test fit MP3 for them. My car will be what they use for the directions on future kits involving the MP3.

I'm thinking I'll be just above what they got on their car with my ECU. They had the stock exhaust on the car still at that time.

So, I figure with the MP3 ECU and the stock MP3 exhaust I'll make just a bit more. We shall see. I know Keith will keep everyone posted as I won't really have access to a 'puter. I'll be in GJ all week on a kind-of-sort-of vacation but not really.

It's kind of hard to draw the line where the BEGI kits stopped and the FM ones began. At SEMA next week (which I'm missing to install Chris' turbo!), there will be two FM Proteges, including one on the Mazda stand. Those are kits that were half from here, half from Corky. The one in the B&G booth mostly came from here, and has all the good hoses and clamps, etc.

There's also an FM Miata on the Mazda stand.

Chris, you're welcome to use my computer to brag - sorry, update everyone on the forum. I'll also be putting lots of photos on the FM Protege website. Now, back to putting the race car together....

If it makes you feel any better, Keith, I'll be missing SEMA too to put in the turbo. Oh wait, I wasn't going to go to SEMA anyway. I wanted to though.

And thanks for the use of your computer, I'll keep the board updated.

I'll help put the race car together...For a little race fuel for the ride home;)

Just go to CES and go to the AVN's should help you forget you misted SEMA.
