Has anyone moved the battery to the back of the car? did u buy a kit or did u buy the power and ground lines your self. also anyone do this and try to goto the track? i know you need a battery cut off switch and a battery box. Anyone?

Why would you want to do this...Give me a good reason why you would..then i will tell you why you shouldn't.

People move the battery to the trunk in order to try and even out the weight distribution of a car. I can see it being a bad idea in a P5 since the battery would then be in the passenger compartment. In coupes and sedans set up for racing it is relocated quite often, plus it frees up some room in the engine bay.

I think that is a pretty good reason....but maybe specifically only for a race car. But for a street car it would probably only be good to gain the real estate in the engine bay for modifications or for the "bling" factor of not having an ugly battery in there.

It may help an Protege in autocross, but it would not for dragracing. For a fwd car you want as much weight over the frontend and ideally in front of the front tires.

its an old publication, but a book i have called the "front wheel drive performance advantage" by Jack doo has racers suggest that for a front wheel drive car having about 65% of the weight in the front is ideal, as you need the traction when you are coming out of a turn. Getting neutral handling/ oversteer is better accomplished though swaybars than altering the weight distribution.

not that im saying it is right with more modern vehicles, but its something to think about, and makes sense.

ok lets try that i want a bigger pipe to the throttle body with less bends, im looking to go wiht the bling factor under the hood and i want to mount my nitrous in that area, and why shouldnt i?

This is the EXACT reason why....but does not mean it cant be done...just not ideal on a FWD car.

This is not true unless you are trying to meet rules requirements for a certain class in racing.Relocating the battery to the trunk,it would be wise to put it into a sealed battery box with a vent tube that vents outside the car.The Cut off switch is strictly a racing requirement for safety purposes but not REQUIRED on a street car.

When i goto the track it is a MUST HAVE item to run if ur battery is in the back to have it in a box (not just any sealed box) ans a vent tube and a visable cut off switch.
