Most Overrated Luxury Brand

My parents have a ES300. 1994? somehwere near there. Anyhow the car has over 300k on it. and it's just, started to have a couple probs. tranny went out. For the longest time though that was the smoothest tranny i've ever felt. my other ride is a 96 infiniti I30t and for a "luxury brand" feels nowhere near as solid as the lexus. The newer infinitis i've been in feel a bit better, but i still think that lexus makes nicer cars for when all you want is that smooth ride and luxury. My great uncle has a caddy, and that feels as nice and luxurious as the lexus.

Overrated = land rover.

I'm gonna have to go with jag.. their styling isn't even that great anymore. Quality has always been an issue with them. Really any ford influenced lux brand is essentially garbage. Land Rovers and Jags never meet anything close to good build quality.

You see a SUV and think 4 door sedan?? :)

Anyways, my lexus has never given me a problem and it's fun to drive. The reliability is stellar and the quality of these cars are extremely good.

I'd say Lexus is overrated, not in terms of reliability, but in terms of prestige. Granted, they've gotten a lot better lately in blurring the lines between the Lexus/Toyota boundaries, but I still look at an RX300 and think Camry. You're paying for the name and the gadgets, nothing special or distinguishing.

Acura, at least until this most recent round of redesigns, was similar. Sure, the bodywork and interiors looked different, but the powerplants were all the same.

This is true. Every Lexus dealership I have ever been to was absolutely awesome. I had mechanics that will listen to the car for rattles and fix them. Great service.

I work at a lexus dealership I am a mechanic. The cars are not too bad, but we do have some problem cars. But it is nothing that we can't fix :) We try to treat every customer with loyalty because they made a large purchase with us. http://lexus.com/about/history/index.html That is a very interesting page..
