More Boost?

Well I have seen many people on this site have installed boost controllers. I have a few questions for those of you that have installed them. Firstly I have to ask if you did any mods to the integral wastegate, which i heard only worked to a setting of 6.9 psi. is this an important thing to consider when installing a boost controller or not. I want to buy a boost controller but am hesitant because of this fact. I plan on getting a 2.75" custom exuast a high flow cat a down pipe and a Apex N-1 muffler and possibly a injen CAI also i will already have a blitz BOV and a blitz Dual Turbo Timer If anyone has any input I would love to hear it

anyways its friday night so i`m out to get (bj)

God!!! First time anyone's used that emoticon!!!!! Too ******* funny!!!

i dont think u understand how a wastegate works. it opens at 6.9psi stock, when you get a boost controller it will tell the wastegate when to open, whether it be 5psi or 10 or whatnot. whatever u set the controller to

I understood that the stock wasted gate was controled by a spring and can only hold so much boost before the spring gave out. I know how a boost controler works and it can make the car run some more boost but I dont know how much before the wastegate gives out. I own a MP3 Yea... woo hoo

you can run as much boost as the turbo can handle safely. now im not familiar with the msps turbo system but its typically a pill in the wastegates actuator line that controls how much boost you get before it vents and not a spring. when u install a boost controller its stepping motor takes the place of the pill.

if youve upgraded your exhaust though to something straight through without enough backpressure then the wastegate can get overwhelmed and not be able to release enough exhaust gases. youll get serious boost creep

I'll be adding one to my MSP after I open the exhaust up but I want to have other people go thru the trial and error before me so I can see what does and doesn't work. What boost controller are you looking at and how much?

Pete

I can only afford a manual boost controller but i also want someone else to go first i am sure that some else has. it also seems that we got a couple people saying different thing so how else could i find out without asking through the dealer?

youve gotten ur answer from me. but dont even try to set up a manual boost controller unless ur very familiar with how one works. its actually very simple but for someone who doesnt know heads or tails it can be very difficult

read up on how other people have done it to other turbo cars and you should be alright, just do some research. i also recommend gettin a workshop manual for the car your workin on if u dont know whats what

I think i will get a workshop manual, my best friend has installed many of these b4 and i think it shouldn`t be to much different than a civic. we will just take our time and make sure it is done right

I have my boost set at 9.0 psi and my overboost set at 9.6 psi with the gain at 10%. When i run at wide open throttle and shift at redline when im racing i hold between 8.8psi and 9.2 psi and the car pulls its ass off...but if i just downshift and punch it sometimes it spikes over 10 and hit the fuel cut off its just like hitting the rev limiter..when this happens i look at the controller, which flashes peak boost, is reading between 10 & 10.2psi, i have been told its because of the internal wastegate and if i switch to an external i could solve this... i am seriously considering a t28 up grade with external wastegate

Instead of getting an upgraded t28 why don`t you go to the auto-wreakers and buy a t3 housing and have a t25 - t3 turbo? Or would that not work well (nervous)

Ok i know this is unrelated.

But looking at Phantom's signiture image, the wheels arent right?
Is that a photoshop job?
