Mazdaspeed 6 for fam?

Hey guys. I'm planning on buying a sedan for my girlfriend so she can drive herself to work and my son around. I was wondering what you guys think of the speed6 as a family car? Is it reliable?

Are there any problems the speed6 is notorious for that I should look for when I'm shopping for them.

I'm planning on buying one for around 14-18k. I was wondering if you guys think its worth the extra money for a GT model? The GT only has heated seats and moonroof and leather interior right? What else am I missing?

Lol, this is actually my friends account, he let me use it make this thread. I actually drive a si coupe. She wants a pretty big spacious car with awd for the nasty New England weather we get up here. The choice is pretty much down to either a speed6 or legacy gt. But I like how the speed6 looks better, plus performance wise.

I want to make sure its a pretty decent safe and reliable car before I take the next step and start test driving and searching for one. And whether the GT is worth it.

That being said, my wife and kids love my MS6. No mechanical issues with mine, and you are in the ballpark with the price.

Damn thats a pretty good deal. I'm trying to find something like that. Is that the GT model? Did you pay sticker for it or did you do some haggling? How much was it total out the door? I've been checking forums, autotrader, vehix, cars for my speed6

no sticker was 21999 i held off for a month and it was still there and kept talking it down and finally got what i wanted

Only thing I should add is make sure she is OK with driving it since the clutch takes some getting used to. Its a great car in my opinion.

The only problems with it is the turbo seals can go on the car and you end up with a smoke machine. Don't worry these cars have a 5 year powertrain warranty so your good for a few more years. Mazda says they are working on a fix. Goodluck with the purchase. Other cars to look into is the cx7 which is a great suv/car with awd

Got my Speed6 GT for 16K at 49K miles....the mileage was a bit high, but I LOVE the car, and im sure your GF will love hers too...as said before make sure she's OK with the clutch...took me by surprise when i stalled on the first test drive....but got used to it week later...

I think she would catch on to the clutch issue. I'm not really worried about that. She drives my si pretty good enough to not ride the clutch. Every clutch takes so time to get use to. Were probably never going to get married anytime soon but we've together for long ass time, and plus she just had my first son. I just really love what the speed6 has to offer at the price they go for now. Its just hard and rare to find some low mileage GT's that around the area.

Man you gotta teach me how to work the art. I see one down at the cape for 19980 I believe, I wanna see if I can get them to around 17 and have me out the door with all the fees and registration and crap under 20. Think its possible?

Yea that one might go fast, when i got mine, there were 2 people waiting for me to finish test driving mine, they never got the chance though, I bought it shortly after....The closes one to where I live is approximately 120 miles away....they go like crazy around here....
