Attention mazda replacing muffler please read for those who still have this muffler

Hey Guys...

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the tip on my mazdaspeed muffler is cracking on the inside at the inner edge of the tip. I took it to the dealership and they are going to replace the rear section with a brand spakin new muffler from mazdaspeed .

Mine has been cracked for quite some time now...was thinking about having them replace it. Hey, if enough people resond to this we could have another TSB on our hands!! Everyone check your Tips!!!

yeah mine has that but I dont think my dealer will do anything... they are rather dificult. even tho I'm stock :(

Mine is like that, but the soot buildup covers it so I think I am just going to leave it :)

Yes, mine is cracked too. And I think it's a general issue. I'm also reading another forum from Quebec, and we have a loooong thread on this issue. Looks like everybody is cracked. However, ppl getting replacements don't get the same muffler. But they all seem to agree it sounds better.

Here's a pic of the replacement unit they get :

If i take my car to get it replaced... will they care about my hardpipes and intake and such???? to void my warranty? or will they just replace the exhaust??

Mine is a tad cracked as well... but I don't want to go to the dealership anymore! it's not cracked bad enough where it bothers me.

That's the replacement muffler for warranty?

That doesn't look like either MSP muffler. Hmmmm....(uhm)

Yep... But here in Quebec at least, it seems it's the one they are using.

they dont replace it with the 03 muffler.
that muffler on the pic is the actual "MAZDASPEED" part. Not RacingBeat.
i had it on my car for about a week.
it sounds 10 times better than stock.
flows better.
and if u have a downpipe, sounds hell-a mean.

that's what the guys were saying on the other board too. Thanks Dr. Sound, at least I won't be afraid if I have to change it. But for now it's ok, the crack is barely noticeable.

come to think of it, mine is cracked also. i noticed this because when i wash my car, i always clean inside my muffler as far as i can reach with my hand and i noticed also, when drying it, the towels drag and are being pulled by the rough edge!!! damnit!!
