Friend of mine at work bought a Mazda 5 2012 recently after checking mine out. 2 weeks within ownership got a chip in the windshield...where the windshield meets the roof...by the passenger side. It has created almost a 12 inch crack through the center of the windshield.
He tried going to a windshield replacement place but they said "2012 is too new, you need to buy OEM, no aftermarket for another 4-5 months" They said OEM would be about 800$.
Insurance will cover it. So asking what are your thoughts? Go OEM? Or wait for aftermarket?
ALso the windshield has the black surround..does aftermarket have that too?
