Map update

I agree it would be nice to have the latest factory nav maps but it was such an ordeal dealing with the Mazda Toolbox I quit trying.

That may be the situation for me too. My first attempt to update the maps for my Amazon sourced SD Card was a bust.

It's mostly to prevent the stop sign and speed limit recognition from diverging from reality and Google over time. I use Google maps.

My CX5 does not have stop sign recognition, don't really understand how that works and the value of it. Most of my driving I'm not using navigation so not looking at a screen. I guess if I had HUD then I'd get a warning of upcoming stop signs. I'm not sure I would want to rely on that warning.

Well, I tried updating my Amazon sourced SD Card. The software kicks back and says the card is unrecognized. I guess I'll have to source another one.

My CX-5 came with the nav card, and I bought one from the dealer for my wife's car last December. Mazda's pricing is absurd, but the dealer parts employee did knock a big chunk off the price after some haggling. I imagine in a couple years I will update the cards, but the process seems daunting.

Since you have the official Mazda SD Cards, you shouldn't have any problems updating. It's us cheapskates that have to go through hurdles.

It appears in the gauge cluster near the speedometer.

You may get some Windows warning message. Ignore it. Also, if you get a message that the card is not recognised, check Windows security settings, it may block the card.

I found your link in the thread you shared and I installed the "other" Update Toolbox (what a confusing mess), and I had to LOL when I got this:

I just ran some errands and checked something out. They just opened two new restaurants by my house, with a new road between them. I drove down this new road, and it’s in my Mazda navigation with name too. Google Maps still shows this road as being under construction. I bought this CX-5 last August (never updated by me), before the deal was done to build these restaurants. My Mazda navigation is more current than Google Maps… how is this happening? I live in a small city BTW.
