Magnecor Wires

I installed my new Magnecor sparkplug wires today. Took all of a couple of minutes.

I bought the wires directly from Magnacor, P/N 40403. The fit the 2.0L Protege' motor. They cost $76.43 plus $5 for S/H.

Here's a pic of them installed.

cool, but i have to ask, why? do you have that many miles already?

First, the web site is "magnecor.com" and I called them direct to order the part due to the fact that they don't have secure ordering. I talked to Steve.

No, I only have about 8k miles on my car, but the factory wires are just not to my liking. They are fine for N/A cars, but with the higher temps and greater cylinder pressures of a turbo application, I wanted a better wire. These wires are made for Modified street and race motors. They allow more voltage to the spark plug while retaining EMI and RFI properties.

I'm currently researching an aftermarket coil pack set up that will give me even more voltage delivery to the spark plugs so I can increase the sparkplug gap. The way it's looking I will have to develop my own system. I just don't like how the factory coil packs sit on top of the engine, with a cover over them that retains heat.

Sorry to dig up this old thread....

I just received my Magnecor wires and was surprised when I opened the box and saw they only replace the wire for two of the plugs. I know that little box sits over the other two plugs, but isn't it strange that we're only improving the connection to two of them? I can't imagine how this helps anything.

I just saw that to I will be getting mine in tommorrow, That sux that I paid 75 bucks for two wires.

digging up reaaaal old stuff, but just questioning how much it really does help to have new wires considering its only two. my friend said i should at 30k which i did. but they're some chinese brand wires and i have a feeling i'd be better off with my stock wires.
help anyone?

They do help. The stock wires are like only 4.5mm and the magnecor give a more consistant spark. Also the reason why it has only 2 wires is because the coil gives a direct spark rather than having to go through a wire.

makes sense
but mine aren't magnacor its what ever they had at advance auto parts which was called... magnastar and it sonly 8.5mm at least das what it says on the box. it looks reaaaal thin compared to pics i've been seein of magnacor wires. yeah, they're cheap knock offs i figure only 30 bux tho
