Nope, when I had them installed they only used a spare tire with no rim mounted in it. Placed the strut and spring in there so it wouldn't fall out and then unbolted everything. I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you know exactly what you're doing.
you don't need the spring compressor as the fronts aren't under very much compression. i took mine out in the grass put one foot on the the spring and unbolted it. it released about 6in but nothing dangerous. i used the how to for ground control coilovers. the only difference is i don't think you will need to cut the bump stops although i don't know how much the tien springs lower the car. good luck!
Yeah everybody was going nuts about spring compressors for the fronts, but the guy who installed mine decided against it and it flew a whole 3 inches .
just finished putting them on install was pretty simple once you get past the first spring... took about 4 hrs just taking my time. got before and after pics to...

It doesnt look like the springs have settled that much, drive it around a little then take pics. Here is pics of a one of the p5's in promazda with the TEIN springs on his. Its a further drop then the eibachs. I think it around 2 inches.
