I believe that its called the Mazda Lantis. I remember writing a letter in to SCC back when they were a Bi-Monthly magazine asking Mazda to sell it here. It was in response to a poll that SCC was doing and they were forwarding all letters to Mazda N.A.

I think that it also came with (as an option) the MX-3's 1.8L V6 (130hp or 160hp-cant remember). THe base engine was the 1.6L or 18L shown. I still think that its a cool car.

any one know what year that car is???
it's still look great~~~
i think this old car's design is way better than some new american car..
no offence on american car..but they really need some work on design

I think car companies should start selling the old cars again.

For example...

Could you imagine the amount of money they'd make if they started making the 69 camaro again? Now, I know about the whole emissions thing, and gas mileage but you know, put a modern engine into the body of a 69 camaro and sell it as a new car.

They'd be sellin like hot cakes.

The country is getting older and they want to reminisce their youth. They need to start making the older cars again.

The good old Mazda Astina .. they no longer make it these days.. too bad really...
But it'd be a hell of a good car to buy on the second hand market (provided it's in good condition) and lots of joy to tune up!!!!

Remember when Nissan did that with the 240Z? I don't know how well that program did, but the cars sure looked nice.

I don't think that that type of car would ever make it back over here. People in Europe love the 5 door hatchbacks, but for some reason, Americans (or should that be 'mer-cuhns') just don't like them. Mazda used to have the 626 hatchbacks and Sterling had one here also. They just didn't sell. Hyundai is making a go of it with the Elantra GT and Ford with the ZX5. I know that Honda and Mazda still make 5 door hatch versions of the Accord and 6, respectively. I even asked the salesman about it when I took my Mazda 6 test drive. Of course he didn't know anything about it. Will we see them over here? Dunno.

I doubt that the hatchback will ever, ever make a comeback (not that it ever was popular in the first place) here in the states. I have ALWAYS liked hatches over sedans or saloons (depending on your geographic location). But, I have always liked a wagon over hatches. call me weird but thatsd just me.
