Still miss my MSP...
:
2003.5 MSP Sunlight Silver
Just got in my first accident today. My friend and I were making a delivery for our chocolate store when I rear ended someone who braked on a green light. We are guessing that someone in front of him made a last second decision to turn left and during my stupid glance to look at the shops to the left of me and hearing "DUDE!" next thing I know my hood in in front of my face and I'm smacking my head against something. The car crunched up real nicely so another protege success story in that manner but overall my friend and I are ok except for some nice pains in my head and shoulder and the Ford Escape I hit took very little damage. Anyways...front bumper, hood and stock intercooler and my aftermarket intercooler pipes were damaged so I'm looking to have a different bumper put on for a new look and maybe some other things but since I have state farm my collision guy said all parts have to be OEM but the body kit. I was thinking Autoexe grill with maybe either a P5 bumper and lights or a wings west bumper but what else would fit. Also would a carbon fiber hood be OEM? I have to go in tommorow to talk to them about replacing everything and with what so i'm open to all suggestion.

Naw, I'll have pics of the damage I did tomororw. Any ideas on bumpers, grills and hoods?

i thought you just go get an estimate to get everything fixed and insurance writes you a check and you can buy whatever (OEM or aftermarket) parts to fix it. but i've never had that experience *knock on wood*

yeah thats how it used to be, when my saturn got destroyed by a hail storm i got a check to go get a new hood, trunk and whatnot which we kept and used as a down payment for the MSP. Got a price on the BC2 Kit which is 500 so we'll see how much its going to cost to repair everything

I think it depends on the insurance company. I'm with Progressive, and they sent me to one of their affiliated body shops, made sure I had a rental (for over 2 weeks), and kept me updated on progress. Everyone was really cool, but I never got a check cut. By the way, the body shop did excellent work...you can't tell where there was damage. (although it was minor, it was still $1500)

Pics...I'll get the engine pics up in a bit they were messed before...(chair)

welcome to our club, actually there should be a freakin club for those who didn't crash their speeds, then it would be a smaller member #.

yeah, probably a better idea to do it that way. anyways, anyone know whether i should get a protege5 or a msp radiator? which one is cheaper and better and whatnot?

You should have changed that song that you were listening to. "Crash into me"?! You were asking for it man...

j/k good luck getting back on the road...

If you get the MP5 then you need a FMIC that does not go through the stock location. MP5 will run you 140 something if you order it from Jonboy....Don't forget the brackets:) I bet that is about 3 grand worth of damage.....that sucks...Looks like your hard pipes are OK though:)

Thread jack....btw, how come you mounted your BOV pointing up. Any reason?? Just wondering

i dont know about the radiators, but by the looks of the picture the msp lip of your front bumber looks fine, you should try to get that off, you could sell that, make a couple of $ for something that is going into the trash. if anything i would say go with the wings west front if you really want to look a little different, see what insurance is going to pay and be honest with them if you can work a deal to pay the difference on aftermarket hood, grill, bumper, whatever you feel you want to do. you d be surprised that but sometimes they can be flexible on their own policies. i had a 626 recently and this high school girl turned left in front of me when she had no way in hell of making it, anyways the engine wasn't right after that so i negotiated with them to put a new engine in it, and they were willing to let me pay the difference in putting a 6 cylinder in it, but i would have to apply for a salvage title and s*** like that because the damage was higher than the value, more hassle than i wanted so i settled and bought my msp instead, glad i did. but i think they were so willing because it was their clients fault. doesnt hurt to try.

hmm i'll look into the engine bay pic...but anyways, the TB to intercooler pipe was pretty bent at the bottom it looked like and the turbo to intercooler pipe took a beating also since that whole part of the car got bent in i'll assume that it took a hit also. Yeah, I'm thinking about going with a P5 bumper or a BC2 kit since they are on sale right now from buddy club.

just FYI, i got $200 plus fogs PLUS shipping for my lip from a guy with a P5 in puerto rico. so if you need money that's a good way to get some, PM me if you want pics of what it looks like without the lip, but if i had to chose three words to discribe it... they'd be "(hitit2)"

anyone know if the buddyclub2 front bumper would look ok with the stock sideskirts and rear lip?
