Hey,
Jersey cannot access the site from his house.. Apparently the DNS is still all messed up:

jerseyemt81: yeah just ask them if there's anything i can do
jerseyemt81: my ISP is saying its not their problem, it's my software settings
jerseyemt81: so i say why can my laptop connect when I'm at work and not when i'm at home
jerseyemt81: and theyre like ummm yeah..umm
jerseyemt81: idiots

we foudn the ip for www2.* but when he tries, he still cant connect. Could someone check in to it?

(werd)

This sucks, and my ISP is refusing to admit it's their problem. They're saying I need to call Microsoft because it's an IE issue. So I ask them why then does the same thing happen when I am using Mozilla, or when I boot up Linux?

'Well we don't support Mozilla or Linux, so we can't help you there'

Yeah I KNOW that, I just said that to prove that the problem is NOT a software issue, FURTHER proven by the fact that my laptop connects to the site while at work, but not at home.

******* idiots. If they can't get things straight, I'm switching providers.

Kooldino was having the same problem in south Jersey. He said it was definately a comcast issue.

Workaround: Edit your host file in notepad, the hosts file is in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC . Double click the host file and it will ask you if you want to search for a program to open the file or if you want to choose one from a list. Pick choose one from a list and then select notepad. add a line in the file for each of our domain names like this

67.15.54.54 www.mazdamp3.com
67.15.54.54 www.msprotege.com
67.15.54.54 www.mazdaiii.com

Lastly, save the file. This should get you working.

Thanks I'll try that, but idk if it will work. Because even when I put the IP in the address bar (67.15.54.54) it still won't connect.

Jersey - it will work. If you just put in the IP, it still refers you to one of the URLs, which you can't reach and then you're screwed. But if you specify where the URL goes in the hosts file, you're golden. Do you have comcast? Call up and complain that you can't get to the site, and that no one in South Jersey can either. And that it started Sunday morning.

Futhermore, you can do all the names in one line...

67.15.54.54 www.mazdamp3.com www.msprotege.com www.protege5.com www.mazdaiii.com etc etc

Just make sure you put in ALL of the domains.

Should we move this so that everyone can see it? I told Enry to make an announcement about this, but he's a slacker so he didn't.

LOL

Yes, an announcement should definitely be made.

I have other Comcast subscribers PMing me and IMing me...they can't get on either.

I FINALLY spoke to someone at Comcast who knew what the **** he was talking about. And it didn't even require any explanation! I called, he pulled up my support ticket, and said, "so you say multiple computers stopped connecting to the site at the same time, and your laptop can connect to the site at work but not at home with Comcast? Well that definitely proves the problem isn't on your end, there must be something going on with our servers that's preventing you from accessing the site. I'm going to escalate this up to 3rd tier support"

Holy s***, a help desk person who knows whats going on.

Also just to confirm:

msprotege.com protege5.com mazdamp3.com mazdaiii.com

Any others? I think that's all of them.

Call and complain. I've already told 6 people to do so, you make 7. Seriously, that's the only way they'll fix it. We shouldn't have to make a stupid hack just to access this site.

1-800-COMCAST

its definately on comcasts end, i use them here in WA and while I havent had problems with our site here I have had problems with my companies web site and access to it which prevents me from checking work email =/

I dont think it is so much their servers as their router hardware and software that causes problems on the servers.

1-800-COMCAST
www.behidden.com or any Anonymizer(spelling is bad)

Yeah using a proxy works, so does adding an entry to the hosts table but still, I shouldn't have to do anything to access the site from home.

i use aol on my comcast broadband, to connect. that is my temporary workaround.

it is because their DNS server sux ass... As them for a different DNS server you can connect to...

.. Damn. I'm in Philly right now, but when I was at LBI this past weekend, I couldn't get on the site. I thought it was something to do with the new forum server, but now that I've seen this thread ..

I'm heading back to LBI tomorrow, and if I can't get onto the site, Comcast will definitely be getting a call of complaint from me.

why i dropped comcast, its done this before with other sites. its like thier limiting everything because they have to many people jumping one connection so thier trying to speed things up...

Eww. gAyOL.
i pay for it only because that was the only thing my mom learned how to use when i was 3,000 miles away for a few years. i keep it so she can use it. but i'm afraid to install it on any computer i actually use.
