JDM BPT swap into protege5?

I performed the typical search button protocall and found nothing about anyone performing the swap or any pictures or swap information for it.
I have a bpt in an old car of mine and I also have a protege5, was wondering if it was at all possible to swap it into my protege since it is a similar engine and all. So if anyone knows where I could find info about it and the wiring etc that would be great! thanks!

1992-1994 JDM Mazda 323 GTX 1.8L DOHC Turbo engine.....ie BPT. Can it be done into a 2002 P5?

It's actually '90-'94 model year 323 GT-X hatch and Familia GT-X sedan. Could go with the BPD out of the 323 GT-R but they are pricey!

As far as putting one in a P5... shouldn't be too difficult. Might need some mounting work, if I remember correctly the lower rear mount is fairly different. Front lower may bolt right in along with the side ones...maybe...

More potential than a FS-T for sure! I *heart* my BPT!!

My bad, forgot they made em in '90. all the mounts except for the rear engine mount is different, the rest should slide right in since the transmission is shared from the BG family as the "G type" trans if my memory serves me correct. As I am fluent in the bpt world I know and love the engine, so I would like to make use of it, but my biggest concern is the management side. which PCM and wiring harness do I use? (dunno)

You'd have to use the BPT ECU for management. Not sure how different everything else would be. Get ready to get wiring!!

did they ever figure out how to do use one ecu and clean wiring?

They?

*I* will be working on it soon. :) In the end I will have just the KL ECU and every accessory(A/C, PS, ABS, audio, etc etc) will work. My goal is to have a Protege5 with a KL as if it came like it from the factory... and just sitting the engine in there...popping the hood...it already looks like it grew there. lol

A guy in Toronto is doing the swap in his MSP. If you go to toprotege and look at vtech-this's thread in club projects you can read about it.

i think they were two others guys on here that has done it...or attempted to. maybe one was you i dunno? i think its a waste of effort. rather buy a whole other car...but thats me

BPT swap has been done successfully in a local car but I believe he uses aftermarket EMS. vtec-this in toronto is currently doing his build.

AS for KL swaps, they have been done several times and usually people use dual ECU because of the fact that they cannot get around the alternator issue.

Could you not run the 626 alternator which is self regulating?

done...should run tomorrow(drive)
