I have a strange whistling at idle and I've looked over all of my hoses and they all look good. But I'm getting poor performance and not as good gas economy . I believe my wastegate acutator has gone bad.

Is this easy to replace or should I take it to a shop to have it worked on?

This really depends on how well you know yourself around a car. Some people yes take it to a shop but personally I'd rather do it myself. I've done it about 4 or 5 times already so its really no big deal to me. Same with the rear motor mount.

Alright cool. I can find my way around a car pretty well. Was this a tough job or was it fairly easy for your first time?

Straight forward.. some people can do it without pulling the turbo and all away from the head but i cant do that crap. I just unbolt the exhaust mani from the head, the support bracket from the turbo to the block, pull it all towards the front of the car. I remove the fans and put some cardboard to help protect the fins on the rad.

Time to make my weekend free then haha. I think the internal wastegate is my problem but when I take the car to autozone I'm getting P2006 for vacuum hoses, but like I said all my hoses look like they check out. I'm going to try this though I'm sure it needs to be replaced anyways.

How often do you usually replace your internal wastegate?

Will do. Those will be my first steps. It's so weird cause none of them look damaged or worn. I'm thinking like in your thread it's a weak sensor and it will just need to be replaced. Course the mechanics here don't know s*** about anything. I miss Alabama. This would be so much easier to figure out the whistle.
