Interesting Article...You be the judge!

Yeah, I personally like driving a stick too because I am more "one" with the car. Gotta be the car!:D

wow that guy must have been bored out of this mind or had nothing else to write about. ahahaha. screw that. i use to think ah stick shift sucks. but since i got my MP3. what forget it i would not want to drive automatic. it's not fun. it's like what linux said i like to be one with the car. that my opinion. but what do i know. (thought) lol

stick rules, from both the safety and fun standpoint.

I feel the difference everyday since my Protege is auto and my RX-7 is stick.

I have noticed that I drive totally differently when driving the rx-7 than the protege. I look WAY ahead of the traffic to prepare for shifting, and since I have to stay alert to shift, I don't get sleepy on the wheels as I do on the Protege.

another safety benefit is that I notice myself not tailgating cars when in the RX-7, gives me more space to work the shifting, either from a stop or braking. I tailgate like mad in the Protege, NOT a good idea.

and then there's the fun department, where stick completely owns auto, I don't think I need to elaborate further on that :D

I'm suprised no one brought up the whole "You can shift at the RPM that you want to for maximum speed" thing.

And the whole "an AT is more power lossy than a MT"

well those are givens as far as stick drivers are concerned ;)

He wrote what I said to my friends when they said I should get stick and now auto......... Im just a newbie driver, so maybe in the years to come I will want stick. But right now, I feel exactly like he does.

yeah autos are a safer choice for beginner drivers, one less thing to worry about while learning the rules of the road

once you get comfortable navigating in traffic, then you can get a beater stick car to learn driving one :)

learned to drive w/ a stick... never looked back; 12yrs. (even tho a '79 Toy Corolla) had an auto for 2wks, dropped that quick! nothing like feel of driving manual, esp in the '02 PES. -although I might have to go with the short shifter soon! (2nd gear syncro syndrom)

anyone have any thoughts on that? -if seen diff since installing short shifter, etc....
