can't tell you which one is better between 2010 and 2011.... you need to see it in person.

you might use more gas on manual because you will find it is so much fun, and you will drive it faster and harder...

Auto also has 5 forward gears, but top gear in the auto drops the highway revs to around 2500 at 70 mph (I think), while the manual has the revs over 3000. Love the manual. Only ever saw a few problems with the hydraulic clutch, never with the gearbox.

Assuming the transmissions in Canada and the US are the same... you won't see much difference in fuel usage between the two. The manual is geared to lower speeds and as mentioned above will have rpms above 3,000 at 65 mph in fifth gear, while the automatic is at 2,500 or so. This vehicle really needs a sixth speed.

I think it really depends where and how you drive. I find the auto is not in the gear you would want it to be for power most of the time, but you have the manual mode for this. Since it has a taller top gear then I would def pick it for highway running. I drove a manual one and although it was nice not to have the tranny try to second guess what you want the car to do, it did not have the snap off the line the auto has. If you live in a hilly area or plan to carry heavy loads I think I would go for manual since it offers you the most control over the drivetrain.

The auto is the better choice for highway driving, as it has lower RPM's on the road. The manual is better for everything else, except stop and go traffic.

I think its pretty cool that the 5 is even available with a manual. If it had 6 speeds(a tall overdrive for the highway) I might have considered it. I am, however, very pleased with my auto and find it works much better than earlier 4 speed units in the 06-07.

I'm not a fan of the new styling either, but sometimes vehicles look better(or worse) in print/on a screen than in real life.

No problems with the 5MT so far, except they feel too fast sometimes :D

the manual is still quiet on the highway. I wouldn't let that rpm dissuade you.

(iagree) The engine in this vehicle is very smooth. With the MT, cruising at 125 km/h (3600 rpm) has never been a problem, and even with a skibox on the roof at that speed I still got 8.3 L/100km.

I've driven an 07MT for 3 years, and now have an 08AT. I suggest you try both and decide.

Depends on your usage. If you will be using it for frequent road trips above 75 mph, go with the AT. The MT is a blast, but is not geared for high speed travel.
