I had a couple spare hours today and decided to have some fun.

This is what the old 5 looked like before the mods. The Tein springs and window tint are the only added touches.

Here is the pile of parts going on. :)

Here is the final result. I think the difference is dramatic. The Bayson R kit had fairly good fit and required minimum modification to fit.

Look at that poke. :)

Wow very nice. Mine use to be 2 inch dropped as well, but the old lady was hitting every where. So back up it went. Btw what tire set up is it? other than that have fun with the speed bump :)

a couple spare hours....
Looks nice man

Thanks for the compliment. I pulled the car in the shop at 1:09 and backed her out to take the pic at 3:11. I had the benefit of a lift and my homeboy helped me balance the tire after I mounted them. He also helped hold the parts in place while I screwed them in.

Even though I have been a teacher 11 years, I also have over 19 years experience in car field. :D

Why didn't you get the right tires for the rims? Or vice versa? I would not feel safe driving on that setup. I love everything else but distorting the tire like that would sit on my conscience 24-7.

With the 9.5 in the rear, a proper tire size would have been something like a 265 section width. That would have been too wide and too tall for the 5.

I specifically wanted the staggered setup and the stretched look is part of that look. It is not for everyone, but I have never had a problem running a stretched tire. None of my old Passats, Golfs, and Jettas have had an issue.

Again to each his/her own.

This may just be me, and you're saying you like the look so you can just ignore this if you want to... but I think the staggered look only works if the tires match the sizes of the rims and so are also staggered... not just the wheels... otherwise you end up with a little tire stretched over a big wheel, which actually ends up with the opposite effect you were going for... it creates a bit of an optical illusion where your bigger wheel now actually looks smaller than the fronts!

It actually kinda looks like you just ordered the wrong items... haha. To me, if the bigger tire doesn't fit on the car, you either modify the car so that it fits... or you go another route. I agree the stretched look can be awesome... but you have to either stretch them all or don't bother. If you haven't driven on them much, I'd return those real wheels and get the same size as the fronts... will look much, much better.

Again this can be an ongoing debate in itself. It was the look I was going for, and I believe I achieved it. The tires in the rear are wider that the fronts. The wheels in the rear have a different concave face than the front, so if seen in person looks quite sexy.(IMHO :)) Also, I don't personally like how it looks as if the wheel is tucked in farther in the rear with wheels that are the same width, as with the factory wheels.

Each person is entitled to their opinions and I respect that. There are equal numbers on both sides of the debate.

Oh yeah, the rear doors do open. :D

What's the offset on those Nrburgring ? Put some 3mm spacers in the front. ;)

Love the look of the body kit, flow with the rest ! Good job.

I was rolling 18"x9" ET35 last summer with some 215/40 on it and the sliding doors had 1.5mm of clearance on each side... :)

Thanks for the compliment. It means a lot coming from someone with a proper 5.

The wheels are the Donington in 19x8 35et front, 19x9.5 40 et rear. My doors also open with about the same clearance. :D
