I got stomped

I was driving around and pulled up next a silver GT-S at a light.
I try to play it cool, and look over at the driver. Its a girl..se saw me looking at her car and I threw her a little rev to see if she was game. she revved back...my type of girl
anyway, I start to stage and so does she. You must have to launch those puppies high, because she was revving the crap out of it. So when we go, I immediately pulled her right behind my back door. It stayed this way the whole time untill I shut down at 70. I looked over at her, she was suprised...and cute, but she gave me a tumbs up and then turned off.
I stop at the next light and a guy in a LANCER (not evo.), the crappy OZ rally lancer edition gets beside me and gave me props on beating the GT-S. He then asked If I wanted to race. I smiled politely (so as not to say, why in the hell would I race your 17 seccond car?) and said I geuss. This time I got a better launch and ripped away from him. He was sitting there for a seccond spinning his tires...and then it was over
He got traction and FLEW by me when I was going 45. He probably pulled 4-5 cars on my by 80 when I stopped. I had this feeling of helplesness...there was nothing I could do except watch the ass end of his car get farther and farther away.
At the next light he said I was quicker than he though I asked him what he had done...he said not much.

Odbviously he was full of it (i.e. he must have had alot done to it), but damn getting bat by a lancer is a humbling experience...

If she had a Celica GT-S, then yes, you DO have to rev the piss out of it. The power starts at 6000 when the cam shifts to the high rpm lobes. The car changes completely at that point: docile low, but a beast in the high revs.

The real problem with the Celica is in the gearing: the slushbox is poorly suited to such a peaky engine, and the 6spd has poorly chosen ratios: you cannot reliably stay on the 2nd cam during 1-2 and 2-3 shifts! There's a nice bog after each shift unless you abuse the clutch and let it slip....
That (and the LSD) are the main reasons I traded in my Celica GT-S on my new MSP....

she must have sucked at driving the gs-t. my friend has a lightly modded gst and the thing hauls ass. that's the car i've re-learned driving a manual tranny on. trust me, you can't hang with a gst boosting over 1BAR!! unless you get a very good start, cause unless you have sticky tires, you just light them up in the clipse. i've driven my friend's on the street and at autoXs

good job though! a kill is a kill. you ddidn't hear a turbo whine or BOV from the lancer?

a gst hits boost at about 3500-4000rpms. full boost comes at about 5500. the lil t-25 spools quickly, you know this though, cause you have one on your mspeed. a ~7psi msp will not keep up with a 17psi gst.

It's not an eclipse gs-t its a celica GT-S she was driving. Lotta difference. Just helpin ya out. ;). And the lancer probably had a N2 kit in it.

heh, i am dumb.... i saw the g, t and s, so i just automaticly put them together as GS-T. mah bad!

OMG, to a lancer? I feel for you bad... There was this silver, badly riced out lancer, in my neighbor hood that actually had the most mods I've seen on a lancer, he had a new throttle body, new intake manifold, port & polished, headers, exhaust intake, and a crazy ass wing. oh yeah and chipped, I burned him N/A a long time ago 4 times!!! the guy couldn't believe it, personaly I couldn't either. So his friend thought he was just a bad driver and offered to drive his car for another race, I agreed. Now this time I still won, but he was at my back door most of the way. Seriously the guy you raced had to have been squeezing.

:p :D

I sometimes WISH I'd had a GS-T, not a GT-S, but I would think about turning, and realize how much more important that was to me, and be glad for the handling of the Celica....
