High Pressure Fuel Pump = Ringing Sound??

A brief history:
I had a concern about what I would call a "ringing" sound (like a chain dragging on the ground) that is evident immediately upon start-up and continues unchanged. Previous posts here elicited responses that my concern was not happenning to anyone else. I took the car to the dealer the first time: they pulled the timing chain and that made no difference. I have been keeping an "ear" on it - and I think it has gotten worse.

So I took the car back in today. After a couple of hours and a supposed phone call to Mazda, I was informed the sound I was hearing is normal.

  • According to Mazda, the ringing sound I am hearing is the high pressure fuel pump.

Does anyone know if a high pressure fuel pump causes a ringing sound??

I'm not sure if a "high pressure fuel pump" causes that sound, but I do know my car doesn't make any sound like that! Do you use 93 octane?

Yes, I do use 93 octane.

My BS meter is pegged. I believe I am getting the run around. I think it is turbo related.... they do not want to admit it.

I guess I am forced to head off to another dealer!!!
