'02 Protege5, Vivid Yellow
Hi i recently bought a lightning yellow '02 protege5 with 10400 miles on it and i already have it up to 11580! ive only had it for 2 weeks so far, plan to put a lot more miles on it in the desert, offroadin! as soon as i test drove this awsome lil car i fell in love with it and with Mazda. i bought it in Cali and drove it to Sin city, what a ride! Made the trip in about 6hrs... ussually takes 8hrs goin the speed limit.

Unfortunatly its an automatic, but i can live with that. i love the handling this car delivers its simple superb in comparison to the other cars ive drove and test drove, including the honda civic, accord, subaru 2.5rs, and many older cars including a '71 camaro (huger orange with black speed stripes Z28 ;) ). the acceleration on it is simply amazing too, ive already raced a stock '02 dodge stratus with a slightly larger engine and put the smack down on it, haha! :D

now ive got to figure out what all is out there for this car, ive been lookin around Vegas and so far ive found a shop that specializes in Mazdas but its run by a bunch on Mexicans that could barely speak english, so im a lil shy on trustin them. just wonderin if i could get some pointers on what would be best for my car, ive already visited flyinmiata.com.

i guess im lookin for a good turbo upgrade, ive read so far that a garret t3 bb turbo is what i think id want. they say its better than the t25. well, thought some of u guys here would have some experience in the matter. thx

cya later and drive safely :) ... unlike me...

hey greenpic and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! (stash)

hey greenpic, go to the tech area and see the forced induction section. lot's of discussion on turbos there! hope that helps, joe.

Welcome!
Take a few days to look around the site, there are literally thousands of threads on performance upgrades, and 400 different paths to choose. To find something your style, look at what other people have on their cars (something lots of folks put in their signature). Then ask/PM any of us if you have a question.

And the search button at the top is your friend.

Briefly, yes, many folks here think the T3 is a good fit for the 2.0. The mitsu 16G is another popular choice. There are five (or is it six???) turbo kits out there for the car.

Have fun, and welcome again.
