Hesitation question

So initially I was under the impression that this only happened to some MSP owners, but does pretty much everyone run into this problem?

The ECU is mapped too rich, how some would not have it is beyond me... since its the same fuel maps in every car.

Has anyone heard anything from Mazda recently? I emailed them a few days ago, asking about the hesitation but have yet to hear back from them.

I have the same problem. I've found a way to shift to eliminate the hesitation but I'm yet to master whatever the hell I did (that's if it wasn't all in my mind).

Yup, it's impossible to avoid. For me, mine gets REALLY bad if I turn on the A/C.

Mazda is working on it. BoostIsGood will have another update for us by the end of August. He has monthly communication with Mazda on the issue. If he doesn't post anything, I'll try to post whatever I hear (so far I've been included in the emails, not sure if that'll last though). It's frustrating as hell, I know.

I write to mazda and not receive any info about the new ecu reflash to eliminate the hesitation is curious because this thing take all this time to mazda to fixed 1 YEAR

one my car run very hot
two my car loss the fuel curve and 3/4 of the power from 4000- to 5500 rpm in the majority of the time when run during the day
three my car stumble 1/2 of time when shut off the gas pedal

this is normal of this is a lemon car

this is dangerous or not to the owner security

any have loss the car power when try to pass to a other pork head driver in the road. this is dangerous or not

im sick with this fooking problem

im tried many things
one unorthodox pully alleviate not resolve
two grounding kit not resolve
three cover the intercooler pipe(TURBO TO INTERCOOLER) with heat tape from thermal tec this alleviate and increase the stall and stumble.

four im think install msd dis 2 because in my other mazdas the msd ignition down the a/f ratio

five demand to mazda and claim all my money including the money of the modifications and purchase one subaru sti

im beging to lose my love for my mazdaspeed

the mazda motherfookers not play good because the rear bushing problem in the mp3 is not modified in the msp is the same s*** bushing and the mazda replace three time the bushing to any 1000 owners of the mp3 these people dont think or all the executives of mazda drive bmw or lexus and not work well

IN SUMMARY

TIHIS CAR IS NOT A TURBO CAR IS A LOT OF PROBLEM CAR
im beging to loses my patience

one year to resolve this problem or the problem is really big and cost to much to mazda resolve

the internal not resist and the reflash down the power and all the msp owners demad to mazda for less power

the plastic pipes are coming too hot and the intercooler too small
to cooling the incoming air and the a/f is too rich because the hot air

the fuel map is one big s*** and cost too much replace 2500 ecu,s

one sensor feel the car too hot and cut the power or change the ignition timming too much

the mazda people try to eliminate the torque steer and shut the power in the best part of the rpms

callaway the producer of this big s*** turbo kit not sound or explained the mazda or callaway fail

im think is time to group all the msp owners and beging to presure mazda

I can live with pulling the ecu every 5,000KM.. but if it's not fixed in a few months I'm gonna send a ->very<- unfriendly letter to mazda. Word is a CAI will fix it, I'll settle for that if mazda pays for it.

ONE CAI DONT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM

ONE MBC DONT

ONE FPR DONT

ONE FMIC DONT

ONE DOWN PIPE DONT

ETC ETC ETC..............

IS A FUEL CURVE PROBLEM ALL THE FOOKING ECU DONT READ AND ADJUST PROPERLY THE TIMING THE FUEL AND THE AIR METERED IN THE FIRST CAR & DRIVER CAR THIS CAR USE A VISTEON ADITIONAL COMPUTER IN THE PRODUCTION ONE s*** ECU MODIFIED

YOU PUT 1000 MODS AND THE CAR DONT RUN PROPERLY

THE MAZDA NEED REPAIR AND THIS s*** COST $$$$$$$$$ TO MAZDA REMEBER ONE YEAR AND NOT SOLUTION NOT IS STRANGE

Yes, BoostIsGood and I both have emails from Mazda stating that there are 15 people working on it and they estimating a fix could be available in September. I could post the letter here again, but just do a search instead for something like "letter from Mazda" or "hesitation part two" and you'll find the thread I'm referring to.

You are also right irr5302 in that no mods will fix the problem -- the best you can do IMO is up the boost and get Joe's FPR. However, it will be CHEAP for Mazda to fix this problem because it will probably be an ECU flash -- can't get any cheaper than that -- 0 new parts needed. If it ends up involving more than an ECU flash, then it's an entire different story though.

Lastly, this is not a flame but your English skills are not very good so it probably won't do you much good to contact Mazda. More than likely they'll just ignore you - especially considering that, at the moment, enough of us are bugging them the way it is. I know you're from Puerto Rico though so I understand that English probably isn't your primary language.

If Mazda doesn't get a fix out this year then I definitely agree that it should be an all-out email-bombing war on them mo-fo's -- we'll all have to get together and send them multiple daily emails/phone calls/letters....you name it. The squeeky wheel gets the grease.;)

irr5302, i agree with your outburst. i put a lot of money in my msp this summer and it hasn't responded very well to modifications. it's damn frustrating. when mazda built these cars they definitely knew what type of peeps would be buying these cars and the mods that would be installed. MAZDA i hope someone there is reading this: MSPs SUCK FOR MODS and it's all your fault!

I say everyone still needs to call mazdausa to get an update. It can't hurt, only help, with all the constant complaints.

i recently wrote another letter to Mazda saying how fed up I was with the list of problems that never seem to get fixed. I want results, and I've been waiting a long time for some things to get fixed.

Basically I said this to them.

Literally

You screwed up, you delayed the release, the cars came here not properly tested, we have broken radios, turbo's, pipes, bad ecu, etc., I hope for their sakes they sold all the cars in Canada because now that the word is out.....your screwed. All these other cars coming out now with less problems and are starting to attract a lot more attention to potential buyers, i know some have turned down their rx-8 orders with fear that Mazda won't fix something on them as well. The Word is out, Mazda does not fix their problems, or at least not fast enough, were going on 3 years for the damn clunk, and still nothing.

Something like that anyways.

If the ecu problem ever gets fixed, I'll send boostisgood a case of beer !

If I ever get the damn clunk resolved......I'm buying myselfone. Personally, I'm not holding my breath on either.

Oh, and Iwonder about the small percentage of people that do not have the hesitation, if they even realize what it is, or maybe their the type that never rev past 3k so they don't see it. It's pretty damn obvious in my car sometimes, although other times she fun as hell.

I had the same problem with the clunk. I'd ask someone if they had it....No they said, I'd get in their car and say.....yes you do, your just getting the start of it, and sure enough, few weeks later, they had the full blown clunk.

You are right on alot of accounts Newf. I also do not understand how some people don't have the hesitation -- it's just impossible for me to believe. The clunk is another story -- I didn't have it right away but after 1,000 miles or so it was there and it is getting worse with more miles. I'm dreading the winter because it seems to be getting worse as the weather cools. I can easily see how people wouldn't realize they have the clunk though -- because to me it sounds EXACTLY like an item that's clunking around inside the trunk.

The clunk is a problem that I cannot understand why Mazda wouldn't fix. They wouldn't need a full-blown recall for it but if they just had a TSB for it they could fix up the complainers for good and SAVE money in the long run instead of having to pay the dealerships to continually install new bushings.

The hesitation is a problem I believe will be fixed .... but at the same time I questionw whether it will ever be fixed just because it amazes me how Mazda could have released the car with this problem anyway! Why on EARTH wouldn't they have fixed it BEFORE it came out?---there's no way they couldn't have known about the problem in testing before release. No way. So I'm not sure what to think ... I guess for now I'm looking on the bright side and am expecting a fix in September. If they appear to be dragging their feet or quit communicating with us, then I will begin email-bombing every day until I get rid of the car.

Can someone told me what is the clunk problem ? Is this problem only occur on MP3 and MSP or any sedan and P5 owners has it also ?

Thanks

The suspention makes a big "CLUNK" sound when it goes over a bump. Mine only does it in the rear right now.

I never heard of people having problems with it until the MP3 came along --- but now that my MSP has the clunk I can definitively say that my 2000 ES had "the clunk" too! Not as bad, but it was definitely a clunking problem -- I always just thought it was something in the trunk making noise until I saw that so many other people had that same clunk. So in my opinion, yes, the other Proteges can get it too.
