Help with Adhesive remover

Ok, ... I got my car sent to me from San Antonio. They were nice enough to put rubber stripping along the edges of the door, and the crowns of the fenders.

It was a nice sentiment, but they decided to use some sort of black tar based adhesive to stick them to the car, ... which has this great tendency to melt in the Texas heat.

What's the best way to remove this without damaging the paint? It won't wipe off, it just smudges.

go to pep boys and ask them for adhesive remover that wont damage body paint... is it that nasty tar stuff that they use inside door panels?? cuz that s*** is BAD!...

3M makes some stuff that specifically is for removing adhesives off of automotive paints...its not cheap...but it does work well...it will even work on vynal stickers....spray it directly on the stickers...let it set for a short while...and peel it right off.

there are lots of stuff....GOO GONE works well too...and its sold at wal-mart and its cheap.

Or stop by a Honda motorcycle shop and buy some Honda Pro-Clean. Best bug/tar cleaner you will ever get, and it puts a good shine on the ride also. I use it for quick detailing when I'm at events.

goo gone specifically states on the back for ON autos and Boats. it also lists fiberglass, tile, carpet, HAIR, and your HANDS. Goo Gone is 100% biodegradable...and organic. there are a lot of citrus oils in it.....I have a bottle sitting right here in front of me.

WD 40 is one of the best and cheapest ways to remove adhesives on any automotive painted surface...followed by a little Windex to remove the residue....or another good product is any automotive paint polish..(NOT WAX)....Peace!
