help need about speakers installation

If you're asking about the tweeters, yes install either a set of bass blockers or a crossover network. If you don't at least put the blockers on the tweeters then you will blow them as they'll be trying to reproduce the entire frequency range of the radio...if you just set the bass to 0db on the head unit you'll loose all low end frequencies all together from all the speakers not just the tweets. As for the 5.25's being quiet make sure that they're wired in-phase...fade the deck all the way to the rear then change the L-R settings back and forth...if the sound is louder when at full left or full right than when set in the center, you're speakers are wired out of phase, just flip the negative and positive and that should take care of that. If you do the test and find out that they're not out of phase then you may a bad set of speakers or they need more RMS wattage than the HU putting out.

That tread has become a mess.
Please list the questions you still needed answered.

thanks, 20ESGUY, you answered all my questions!! :)

which brings me a few more noobish questions, (sorry!)

is there a way if i can tell if there are already bass blockers ont he tweets?

what do they look like?

and how much would they cost if i bought them from a store?

and how do you think i should bolt down the sub box? should i use small screws? but then it's basically bolted to that flap that covers the spare and it's not really bolted down at all :\

or should i use velcro like someone else suggested?

thanks for your time everyone :)

well you could...but then its just VELCOR'ed to that flap....What I have done is attached it to the back of the rear seat....

I happen to have a box which is just a tiny bit narrower than the two D-rings on the back of the seats....I aquired two more D-rings and attached them to the sides of my sub box....then made two small straps to go between the two......now the box is secured in the back...but can easily be removed if need be.

Bass blockers are usualy installed behind the radio or in the door. A bassblocker is a .25 diameter, 2" long cylider that gos on the + speaker wire.

You said your friend gave you 4 speakers and 4 tweeters.
Were they component sets?
Were teh speakers coaxles?

thanks for the tips nuke and 1st mp3,

i'm gonna see if i can do that d ring thing for my sub box, sounds like a good idea!

and 1st, he gave me 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, the 5.25's i think are component sets, they are alpine, and the 6x8's are pioneer two way speakers, that's about all i know.....

would it be a big problem that i'm hookin the tweeters up front with the pioneers? because i didn't want to do much modding to the doors, so the 6x8's are up front, and the 5.25's are going in the rear.

Can't do it. Not with out an amp or running new wires into the front doors. A componenet has a mid and a tweeter a coaxle has a tweeter built onto the mid. Your Pioneers are 4 ohm speakers as are the tweeters from the alpine set. If you parallel the Tweeters with the Pioneer coaxles on just one channel of the radio you can kiss your radio good bye. Only an out board amp can do this. Keep the tweeters in the back running off the crossover form the alpione set or don't use them at all.

sorry, i got lazy over the holidays and haven't touched anything....

but now i'm back :D

1st mp3, will the tweeters work with the 6x8's with bass blockers? or will it still not work out? i don't want to move the components up front because i already bought the kit to make it fit in the back, and i don't want to buy another two kits to make the 6x9s fit in the back and the components up front.

any more tips or insight will be great, thanks guys :)

The tweeters will have to be connected in series with the 6x8s. This will only deliver only 1/4 of the power the 6x8s would usualy get if wired alone.

If the 6x8s have a built in tweeter, don't bother with the extra tweeters at all.

You wouldn't need to buy an adapter kit to get 6x8s to fit in the rear, they won't fit! You'll have to cut the door metal to fit them!

I would:
- Sell the 6x8s
- Sell the Tweeters
- Install the components in the front
- Buy and install matching coaxles in the rear.

well i finally finished installing the speakers, the 6x8's are in the front and the 5.25's are in the rear, all the speakers are soldered and the rears sound much better now, the speaker wires were connected to the wrong tips, we switched them and now they sound alright, the speakers still can't handle any bass from the deck, but i guess it isn't an issue since i have a sub. now if only i can think of a way to bolt the sub down good...

thanks for the tips everyone, really appreciated! :)
