Hello from a new chap across the pond

Hello all,

I'm known as Bat and live in the UK. I came across this forum by accident and I'm glad I did.

I, currently, have an eight-year-old Mazda Premacy Sport (2.0L Petrol) and love it. Prior to this, I had a succession of Mazdas (MX3, 323F, 323F ZXi - my personal favourite).

I've never had a real problem with any of them but have recently started getting spurious warning indications on the dash and wondered whether anyone would be kind enough to comment or point me in the right direction for some sound advice.

Other than that, I'll be working my way through the threads to seek out the interesting and amusing.

Best regards to all

Bat

But you're going to have to be more specific on these "warning indications on the dash" are they warning lights in the instrument cluster, what ones, what are you doing when it happens?

Please help us, help you.

Peace!(rei)

Welcome to the forum, Bat. There are some members/followers from the UK on this forum who have experience with the Premacy and diesel power.

We North Americans covet any information/updates on the unobtainable models (diesel), and will not be shy when voicing opinions or asking/answering questions.

How many miles/kms on the clock?

Hello all and thanks for your replies. Apologies for not getting back sooner but I've been away for a couple of days. The Premacy has 84000 miles on the clock. The indications that have suddenly appeared are: Brake Warning Light; ABS; TCS and TCS Select. The car was fine when I parked it the night before but these captions did not extinguish when I started it the morning after. I drove it a short way and felt no adverse effects from the braking system (although I did not hammer it!) and everything 'looks' fine from my perspective (brake fluid, connectors etc). I'm waiting to get a booking at my local Mazda dealer but would kick myself if I found it was something simple like a relay trip or blown fuse (no real evidence of either). Any help would be appreciated, especially if it saves me a huge garage bill.

Thanks again and best regards,

Bat

Hi Bat and welcome to the forums.
Remember that you're not across the pond from everyone. (Even though you have to cross some water to get to me)

I drive an imported MSP myself, so I don't know if I'm able to help you out much here, but if the brake fluid looks OK I would start with checking the brake pads. It also might be a sensor for the ABS / TCS.

Good luck figuring this out!

Sounds like a 2001-2002 Premacy (?) That one has several similarities with the Protege so I'll check what isbre replied on

Hello again chaps.

Apologies, once again, for the delay in getting back but I'm out-and-about quite a bit at present.

I've got to the bottom of the problem - Rear Offside Speed Sensor defunct! Thanks for the steers gentlemen. Just waiting for a replacement and everything should be tickety-boo in no time.

Glad I found this place.

Best regards,

Bat
