Lots of sweet new liter bikes coming out for 2004. It's gonna be hard to choose. My choice would be a toss up between the Aprilia and the new R1. ***drool***

Yeah, I had a 2003 R6 that I actually just sold since I don't ride much in the winter. I'd definitely suggesting starting off with something around 600cc.....those big bikes take LOTS of experience to handle and a noob will kill himself really fast. The best thing to do is buy a used 600 for $2k-$3k because YOU WILL DROP IT at least a few times when learning.......then after 6 months or so you can sell it and have some cash to put down on something nicer. My friend did it this way and he was happy he did....he got a 96 Katana for like $3k....dropped it about 3 times.....after a year he just got a new VFR.

yeah, that's what I was thinking ... i do not claim to be an expert rider ... only been a half a dozen times. It's hard to find a decent bike here in NY for that price range though ...

Why would he sell this bike so cheap? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2438847769&category=50053

I'm not sure but I can tell you that ebay is about 90% stolen bikes and bike parts.....if it looks too good to be true, it's probably either stolen or it's a salvage bike from being in a flood or a theft recovery.

check these out....Kawasaki T-rex...they also have a open air version...So sweeet:

all bot the AP are crap.

japans cradle stlyes suck ass.

not many ITL are lower then 700 thoe. get a used SUZU 500 or 650 and next season get somthing u wont have to replace every year.

buying a japanese bike is like buying a korean car, thier r good ones here and thier- but non of them r any of the ones posted here- i know bikes.

If you're a n00b, going beyond 600 is a okay but I won't suggest it. It's tempting and sometimes a little throttle can feel like a full throttle. Get a used one.

I don't agree with the Japanese bikes being compared to a Korean car. Performance wise, just look what machine is leading the MotoGP. Yeah a Honda!

yeah, Japanese bikes are the best quality and by far the highest performing bikes you can buy.......but I'm a sucker for the sexy Italian bikes. I had a 2000 Mille before and then got the 2003 R6 for racing......but I always missed the Mille because the twin sound was sick. Plus, every dickhead squid in the world has a Japanese 600 so I never really fell in love with that bike like I did with the Aprilia....but the R6 was an incredibly fun bike and awesome on the track.

NIce, what do you guys think of this?

1996 yzf600
new tires, Vance & Hines pipe, ported & jetted, never down, runs great, $3000

sounds about right to me......in the right price range too. Here's things I'd check:

1. was it garaged? (never buy a bike that was stored outside...even if it was covered)

2. was it raced? (port and jet plus V&H pipe might be a clue.....if it was raced hard then that's not good...the occaisonal track days though are fine)

3. mileage (you can always shop around and find lower mileage bikes if this one is too high.....I'd say it should have less than 30k miles being a '96)

OK thanks .. will check on that, here is another, what do you think low J?

1998 yzf r6
only 900mi, blue & wht, just serviced, almost perfect cond, Ser Inq Only, $3900 Firm Middletown, ny (845) 742-9189

JUST SAY NO..........to Buell........simply awful bikes......horribly ugly, slow and fall apart at a faster rate than pretty much any bike to ever come off of an assembly line. You wouldn't believe all the weird s*** they have to do to those bikes just to shoehorn that POS Harley air-cooled lump of an engine in there.....I mean the gas is in the frame and the oil is in the swingarm......wha ??????

**** you, **** you, **** you, **** you, and possibly **** you. I love buells, i loved my lightingbolt, i plan on getting a firebolt. A 929R mind you, not that particular one. yes, the in frame fuel system is sketchy at best, i will picking up a 2002 929R fairly soon. oh and in case i forgot tell you before..**** you..haha
