Has anyone tried Bridgestone?

Here's what ConsumerReports has to say about it:

CR's Take
A mostly well rounded choice for all types of weather conditions.
HighsVery good marks for dry and wet braking, and solid winter grip.
LowsHandling is just fair among most competitive models.

For Dry braking, Hydroplaning, Ride Comfort, Noise, Tread life, Wet Braking, and Rolling Resistance it scored Very Good.

For Snow traction and Ice traction it scored Good.

For Handling it scored Fair.

The grades are Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, and Poor.

Total points: 62/100, while the top tire in category scored 70/100. It is not a Recommended tire from CR, but its scores look pretty decent.

Cool thanks. Right now it's my top pick for a replacement. If it's good in the snow I may give up my snow tires. Both sets are near the end of their life, snows are old and dry rotted, toyos are at 25% tread left.

I would recommend Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus over that. I am pretty satisfied with it. It have very good grip, smooth and quiet and its #1 rated in Tire Rack survey. Thread live should be very good since it have 70K thread life warranty.

I never try it on snow since I have Dunlop Wintersport 3D. It does seem the dunlop is getting old and lost winter grip quite a bit. I should try the Pirelli on snow to know the difference.

Interesting, I dont think those came up in my search somehow. The tread does not look like its very snow friendly, there are not a lot of slots running across the tire tread. I do like Pirellis though. I will have to read the bottom reviews to see what the real issues might be. Ignorance is bliss to a lot of people as evidenced by how many people I pull over to tell them their tires are flat. If you cant tell the tire has no air and are ignoring the warning lights, how can your opinion on performance matter? Thanks for another suggestion!

Oh and please dont call it "thread", a tire has tread and treadwear ratings. Thread is for sewing. Sorry, pet peeve :)

Ah.. solly fol my inglish.....(hide) (hah)

Tire does have steel thread or nylon thread.(lol)

The Pirelli Cinturato All Season Plus got a lot more sipes than the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus. I am actually surprised to see it got 9.1 rating for light snow traction.

You are correct they do have threads that make up the structure of the tire. Not much wear left when those show through!!

I have bridgestone Ecopia on my car, they do well in all weather and are pretty quiet. They claim mileage gains but I've not seen any.

Most of your mileage gains are going to come out to something like $10 per 10k miles you drive... not worth it in my opinion if you have to give up grip to get there. Your driving habits will make a bigger difference in your gas mileage than the tire selection will.

I'm a performance guy, I personally would not lean towards an eco tire because it means a compromise was made somewhere for low rolling resistance. I have a trip to Florida in April so I will probably need some new shoes when we return. Stock tires have somewhere around 20K on them, seems they dont make it much past 25K based on what others have said. OTOH, it may be a better idea to get the better, quieter tire on there for a long road trip....hmmm.....

Mine lasted 53k and are still decent, they were the stock Bridgestone Turanzas 422el. They don't make that tire in this size so I switched, I work for a subsidiary of BSFS so with my discount I wouldn't buy anything else.

I have the Toyos, which seem to be one of the worst tires ever. Who is BSFS?

FWIW I will most likely never get to 53k with this vehicle. I just turned over 23k and I have it 4 years now! Once my kids are both in public school shortly, I will be looking to get something else. I really wish we had some valid 3 row competitors in the NA market. If its not the 5, its something WAY bigger and neither my wife or I really want bigger. If I could have a 5 with the 173hp/310tq Diesel and AWD I would jump up and down like I won the lottery. The 148hp/280tq diesel would be ok too if anyone in Corporate is listening. Heck, I would even suffer with the 189hp/189tq 2.5 sky G.

I think my neighbor has those on his 06 sport, I'll have to pick his brain now that he has them a while. I think Costco has those if I'm not mistaken.

Those Serenity tires are well loved on the Odyssey forums, which is also a (much bigger) van with less than ideal sound deadening. If you're going for comfort and quiet go for it. If you want great handling, grip, steering feel, etc look elsewhere. Be aware there is a Serenity, and a Serenity Plus. The Plus is the newer version, and has increased wet/snow grip. The Conti DWS is a well loved tire as well.

I'm starting to try to make up my mind as I think I will need them sooner than later. I finally put my Summers into the garage and noticed the tread is getting very thin. I'm swapping them back on for a NY to FL round trip in April and then I think we will part company :)

are most of your miles city duty? If so, I'm not sure what you will get out of paying the premeium for GT-AS. LRR has no benefit and noise level is more or less a non factor on NY roads. I looked at this range of tires and honestly I would just stick with Primacys.

I run the budget end AS. Had 4x on the Sport and currently GMax AS03. Both have their pros/cons. I just had PA31 put on the Fit and it is a better balance tire than the other two. I highly recommend you look into them. I drove through yesterday's snow (5-6) with no problems with stability control on or slight throttle modulation with it off. No problems passing and was going faster than I should. A set of 16" cost me $306 shipped from http://www.treaddepot.com/. They have an instant $50 Kumho rebate till end of Jan (or out of stock).
