Hey has anyone installed an "HD" lip on their car? You know the home depot/garage sealant lip? Just want to see pics of it...saw it on a MZ3 and actually looked pretty alright, but curious how it looks on a MZ5? My JDM lip is getting scratch up, so gotta repaint it...so thinking about trying out an HD lip in the meantime....because knowing my buddy, he'll take a year to paint it for me....

here is mine

good god!! $10+20 shipping!!!??(gun)

I think it is the same lip....haha
but if you go to Home Depot you could buy the same 2" garage door seal and install it all for under 20 bucks....(blarf)

BLACKOUT, how do you like yours? Any complaints? Does it look pretty nice in real life?

LOVE IT, for $20 can't bet it you will be able to get at least 2 out of it. as of putting it on i will need to find better 3m tape and a couple of screws it didn't last as long as i wanted. so here soon i will put it on again and yes it looks good i can see it right away each time i go to the car and had lots of compliments

Blackout, where did you use the screws, and how many? I'm assuming only 4 or 6 at each transition/bend, but just want to make sure. I figure it will give me a little protection with the parking barriers.

well i think i used about 10-12 plus the 3m tape but its not on anymore tell later i still have 1 more out of the package to put on but im going to try something new will keep you posted

more info on this hd lip plz? Is this basically a DIY with parts from home depot???

It's garage door sealer. & yes, DIY. The end result is 100% dependent on the time/effort you put into it. They can look like crap, and they can also look really good (as you can see in the pics in the 2nd post).

ah i c, thanks for the clariication. Interesting Idea, and i agree it looks good above. Don't think its paintable though eh? Wouldn't match my car colour.

just... sayy..... noo... tooo.....rice......

imho.. just go save your money and buy a lip... u figure you eat out 2-3 times weekly... just go a month without eating out (thats not what she said) and u can have a decent quality lip...

common.. do u want to be comparible to a honda civic???

What's to keep this thing from folding back while your driving from the air hitting?
Foam rubber...come on.

I did it 2 years ago and if you take the time to do it right, the result is awesome. No problem at all with the wind.

How do you know? Did you have someone drive next to you on the interstate and inspect it? I see rear bumper covers on highend vehicles (Cadillac is what comes to mind now) often that flex and contort somewhat while driving on the highway. I remain skeptical that a foam 'lip' doesn't flex backwards. Now, I'm not talking about the part thats secured to the car, but the portion that sticks down.

So you don't care if the 'lip' you've installed to "improve the look or your car" folds and flaps while you're driving? Ok then.

So many friends have look it in every possible situation... believe me, it doesn't flex at all.

LOL at KBrian response lol.
