Had a Blowout with my Dealer Today!!!

well, I'm glad to hear that he had another dealer around. Report the other assholes to Mazd Corporate. Do you get those Mazda Surveys? Because Mazda does read them, and they DO matter.

I seriously think we should put up a sticky of Dealers names, and opinions of each. Or something that warns us of asshole dealers or something???

Any idea's?

I know you're playing devil's advocate, but for geez! :p

To argue the points here (if someone else has this problem just use these answers)

The intake will not cause hesitation because it provides freer flow in a restricted system. If they can't agree with that, then they don't deserve to be working on cars. The exhaust is cat/axle back (i believe), so it will minimally affect flow on the rear because it's after the restrictive sections (crap DP and 2 cats!) And yes the car is lowered...from the factory, with crap components that were not spec'd by racing beat, because Mazda cheaped out.

Follow up this explanation with "NOW FIX MY DAMN CAR....b****!"
:D

No offense about what you said or believe, but coming from an engineering background, do you have #'s that will prove your point. Can you give me a before and after flowmeter showing the affect of putting on a new intake. Also can you show me pressures probe measurements of the exhaust before and after changing it from stock to JIC. I'm not joking about this, but I would really like to know the #'s. I'm trying to get some numbers together so I can do some simulations on how to better prep the car b4 spending money on it.

As for Mazda cheaps out. It happens in every manufactors, it's the way they try to minimize cost to appeal to the stock-holders. Can't blame the management when their asses are on the line. It's either them or the bottom line. Trust me, I work in an engineering firm, and it's like that everyday.

YuYu...also coming from an engineering background (yes that rocket scientist under my name is real..well...kinda) I don't have numbers but know the major loss points. I'm sure if we had the equipment to do it, we could. However, the restriction points are common from car to car. If you can tune those points then you're set. The only question is what is the right tuning point? 2.5" exh, 3"? Maybe a bigger throttle body. Or it could be tuning the fuel delivery. There are a lot of factors that we, as engineers, could get wrapped up in...that's why an aftermarket exists, because it's a full-time job for those people. Sure you and I could run a CFD for the stock set-up, probe it, and then optimize...but we do have bills to pay. And that would take time, even doing it quick-n-dirty.
(that's why I haven't yet...)

BTW...where are you working? You moved up here, right? I work in Bloomfield for a Consulting Engineering firm. Still trying to find Aerospace work (hence the sorta Rocket Scientist...) PM me if you don't want to be too open out here! :D

And yeah...I know all about the bottom line...that's the reason I live at home right now. ;) Still...for enthusiast cars that are limited run, a slight initial loss that will increase total sales should be done.

Sorry for the thread-jack...your dealer still blows. I wonder how mine will be regarding mods...

Well, the thing is that I never took it in for the problems in the first place, since they don't bother me that bad. But my salesman insisted on talking to the service manager. As far as the hesitation and the role of the intake. I had worse hesitation before the intake. The exhaust is a cat back. And everyone knows about the clunk. He did tell me they were gonna have a kit in about 3 months to fix the clunk, but he was probably lying anyways. I called mazda yesterday and logged a complaint. I got the survey before and chewed them out, and mazda called and I told them what they did when I bought the car.
The thing is, it's the biggest mazda dealership in the midwest, and their owned by the biggest ford dealer in the area, so they can treat people like crap because no matter what they're always going to get new customers.

Do a search for Warranty Laws, there is a thread on this referring to http://www.enjoythedrive.com/content/?id=8124 - vehicle owner rights are discussed in lengthy detail there.

Also, one of the reasons I am making sure that my turbo install is all bolt on with no modifications ( able to be discerned ), is that if there is a problem that I cannot figure out, I will put everything back in place and use my dealer warranty.

So far, I have had my Protege since October 02, and I just spun past 20,000 miles on the way back from Atlanta Georgia. Mobil 1 every 3000 miles, also once after the first 500, then at the next 500. Tires are fine, brakes are fine. My windsheild wipers need to be replaced though. I have not had any major problems with the car. The only problem I have had is that sometimes the gas doesn't like to pump in. It's only happenned maybe 6 times since I've had the car. I've had other cars do it also, just bounce the car up and down a few times, and start pumping the gas back in again.

Please write to Mazda, email them, or seek regional or the GM of that dealer. I had a discussion with Ric Stephens here in town at Racingmazda.com about voiding warranties. Basically he is sponsored by N. America Mazda and his man in Mazda said no dealer can void a warranty because you have modded you car. If they CAN prove that the part(s) you modified caused the problem then they can void the warranty. But honestly what are the chances that they can figure that out?? Upgrading an exhaust or putting an aftermarket air filter does not cause engines to blow. It was rediculous how my dealer went through the spill on not modding the car although I knew they were wrong when I purchased the car. And if a dealer dicks with you and automatically says your warranty's void without them proving that your modifications are at fault, I sense a fat lawsuit!!!;)
