MAZDA5 GT
Hello guys

Unfortunately i got in an accident in my 08 MAZDA5 and it seems like it will be total loss, However i am trying to find out from users what is my car value worth so if anything i can dispute insurance price. Insurance is still working on my file so I am just doing some research. Please help,

car details:
2008 MAZDA5 GT,
Leather seats, NAVI, Heated seats
Bluetooth, and other features in highest model,
172000KM,
No issues with the car.

I would like to replace it with another same model car but they are rare. please suggest any sites or fair price i should except from insurance company to replace my car with another MAZDA5

Thanks

I have found that they give somewhere between wholesale (trade-in) price and retail price on past cars that have been total loss. I use KBB.com for pricing, I don't know if it works for Canadian locations though.

Based on local pricing here, some place between $10k and $12k.
Sorry to hear about the accident, how did you and the car do in it?
Got any pictures? what happened?

The value is highly dependent on your location, so it would be pointless for me to compare values in my area to you up there.

Check places like KBB or Edmunds, then check local listings on CL or Autotrader keeping in mind that asking price =/= sale price.

Sometimes you can and sometimes you can't haggle the price of the insurance settlement. You can always try, the worst they can say is "no". It will help to have pricing info on comparable cars (again, needs to be local). I was able to get about $1600 extra out of the insurance when someone hit a Volvo 240 Wagon I had years back. I used about a dozen listings of sedans and wagons to show that wagons did have more value than they were offering me. Also, their policy would have covered a rental car, but I said I could use one of my other personal cars instead if they would consider negotiating the value, and I do think that played a part in me getting some more money.

We are ok. thanks you for asking, but car front seems to be damaged, nothing on engine, radiator is pushed it and front end crashed,

car skid on highway in icy condition it was really bad weather, even though i had winter tires with good grip. luckly i managed to slow the speed a bit to reduce impact speed. no damage inside, just outside

I have found through my experiences selling a couple cars on Craigslist and/or negotiating trade-in prices with dealers, that KBB.com generally comes back with higher prices, favoring the seller. NADA pricing, not surprisingly, generally quotes lower prices that tend to favor the buyers or dealers negotiating trade-in. Edmunds seems to be somewhere in the middle and is the service I tend to trust most. In my experience, different local/regional Craigslist postings for the same car (give or take a year difference or an option or two) can be all over the map. But then again how much faith should you put into the knowledge of so many sellers on Craigslist whose postings are full of typos and either completely lack photos or the crappy one's they've posted are taken at night and display sideways on my screen???

Interesting. My experience has been the polar opposite. NADA gives an appraisal that is usually much higher for private party sale or trade-in than KBB. KBB has changed recently, however, and offers a "range" that I feel is much more legitimate than their previous pricing. The best service, however, I now believe to be Clearbook, which is offered by the same company that owns TrueCar. If they are to be believed, they use actual sales data to offer an appraisal, and the prices seem favorable to sellers compared to KBB. I can't comment on Edmunds as I've never used it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear Clearbook offers appraisals for the Canadian market. Maybe plug in a US location you think is comparable to Toronto, then adjust the price upwards in proportion to the MSRP difference between US and Canadian window stickers.
