For those that have done it?

How do you remove the map pocket door where the navi would be so I can install my guage pod.

Also for those that have the 3guage pod how did you secure it?

There is a how-to for this at *removed per rules*
It is under "How to remove center console"

I believe you can use velcro to secure the gauge pod. I will be installing mine this week.

i want one of those gauge pods!..but then i'd have to have gauges to put in it ;)

Haha . The gauge pod is cheap. Its filling the holes that gets expensive!

I think its costing me 500 to install this pod. Id much rather put that towards an upgraded turbo, but you gotta get the right gauges before you even think about that.

Gauge pod w/ OEM Black finish (it matches perfectly) - 60
AEM Wideband - 280
Prosport Peak/Hold Boost gauge - 80
Prosport Oil Pressure gauge - 100

i'll be order almost that same setup, after my ECM is paid for anyway ;).
except i want to fill the pod with an AEM Wideband, a Boost Guage, and then an Exhaust or Transmission temp guage. cuz i'm always doing canyon runs, and i'd like to monitor those temps cuz a canyon is a hard pull.

Im not the smartest on this subject, so dont take this as fact, but exhaust gas wouldnt need to be checked as much as oil temp when carving canyons. Transmission temp is more for automatics in that situation or towing. With oil, you would be constantly on the boost, off the boost, for long periods of time (just like road racing) and that would transfer alot more heat to the oil . I know we have oil coolers, but I would think that would heat up, and potentially cause more problems than trans temp. I dont know how much tranny fluid heats up in manual cars. Just a little something for you to think about.

PS ... i am pretty jealous. I wish I had canyons to run. All we have in Jersey is old people, overdevelopment and landfills. Not too many driving-enthusiast's roads.

i'll post a video of a canyon race ;), maybe a downhill one too..they are a rush lol.

anyways, i don't know how much the tranny fluid heats up either..thats kinda why i want to get a gauge, cuz after pulling hard up the canyon (anywhere from 50mph to 100mph at full boost WOT nearly the whole time) for like 15 minutes straight my shift lever gets kinda HOT lol..an oil temp would be very useful as well...hmm i need more gauge pods i guess.

updated wish list:
3guage center pod w/ wide band, Trans Temp, Oil Temp.
1 vent pod w/ Boost gauge
1 other gauge mounted somewhere?? for an exhaust manifold temp gauge

Heres the information you were looking for(as posted by Sigma on another board):

Just as on the bottom of the console, there are 2 screws holding this piece into the dash. In the below picture they are circled in red. After removing those, the compartment and LED remove just by giving them a good pull straight out.

The green circles I have in the above picture just show the primary wiring routes out of the upper compartment -- 2 channels between the vents. The left channel is used by the LED screen leaving the right channel for whatever electronic device you choose to wire into the upper compartment.

The back of the LED screen has a single automotive plug. At least in my case, it was extremely difficult to get off. A pair of pliers would probably come in very handy here. If you desire to seperate the compartment from the LED screen, there are 2 clips on either side that allow you to do so.

That hole you see branches off to both the right and the left. The left goes about 4 inches until it hits the gauge cluster, the right goes all the way to the door, only partly blocked by the passenger airbag.

well, got the stri guages today. Boost and oil temp
gonna use my autometer ultralite a/f for the time being(unless it looks like ass in between the other two really nice gauges...) I may just fill in the hole with a blank for now. who knows. It sure doesn't seem like a straight forward install for anything involving oil based on search results I have found. was hoping I could just tap into the filter housing...(enter i'm a doomass and didn't realize it has cartridge filters...D'oh) what a PITA. any help here would be great. If I have to I will use the braided line with a T fitting at the end but if I don't have to I don't want to.
