First time Mazda owner

Hello everyone, casual automobile enthusiast here... Just traded my truck for a 2006 mazda 6s. 107k. I owned it one day and the car wouldn't start. $100 later/new battery and seems good to go.

Made me think about if I were at work and stranded! so I was wondering if there were any common issues people have that I should prepare for. Certain hoses, or battery issues, certain places that rust or just generic junk. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

It seems in otherwise good shape, I plan to give it a really good cleaning and just get all the maintenance up to date... and once I know its reliable I will do some light modding.

Yes maintenance big one! Spark plugs, oil, transmission fluid only change filter if you know what your doing. I owned my 04 mazda 6 for about 2 1/2 months an right side exhaust flange rusted off in one spot, so maybe exhaust? I do live in ohio so weather here is crap, i'd keep a battery charger/tire pump in the trunk, you can get them at Oriely's or auto parts store you can charge the battery an pump tires when you need. an yeah light's are like 10$ mod.
