Few Noob Questions

Obviously I'm new to modding so don't rip me too much on this. Just have a few questions...
1. What is the difference between a test pipe and a down pipe? Just the cat?
2. I have stock rims, 225/40R18s, will there be any clearance/rubbing issues if I lower it with springs? What would be the best option for springs for my daily driver? Don't want to pogo or have every little crack to feel like a canyon.

That's it off the top of my head right now. If I think of any more ?s I'll be back.

not sure about the pipe, but why would you want to lower this car? It just has such a nice stance already and handles like a dream. I just wouldn't want to take the chance of altering either of these.

1. Downpipe is the piece that comes right off the turbo outlet. Stock there is a pre-cat as part of the pipe. Test pipe replaces the second cat. These are two different parts. The test pipe is relatively easy to change, the DP is a royal PITA.

2. There are many opinions on springs for this car. Right now there are only a couple of options for springs purpose made, all the others advertised (such as Eibach) are meant for the regular 6. Lots of people use them and are happy. Personally I got a set of pre-production springs from RPM, they will lower the car 1/2". After getting some opinions RPM decided to change the drop on the production version to 1" front, 1/2" rear using the same spring rates. They haven't gotten any in yet so you would have to wait. Only other option made for the Speed6 right now are AutoEXE at about $340 per set.

Oh, and just because someone will say it anyway, the search button is your friend. You can find some more info on the springs at least, and I believe there are some threads on both the DP and test pipe.
