MPV and MSP
Hey - you you hit the ONE guy on the boards who has both! 2003 MSP and 2002 MPV es (now "GTI"). (check pic) (and NOW this thread can stay in the MSP forum!)
MPV's are great, but smaller than the competition (Ody, Quest, Toyota). All depends on what you're looking for. No real problems with the MPV except for a stall due to high water getting to the coils on the back of the engine (solution: tell wife to stop hotrodding through deep puddles...). They're fast, shift well, the interiors are pretty well configurable, the sightlines are good, and they drive smaller than they look.
One guy on the MPV board described driving the MPV as being like driving a Miata - from a barstool bolted to the hood!
Best buy would probably be the LX, get the 4-seasons package (heaavier duty cooling, etc.), a roof rack, and the rear-bumper step pad for sure. The es sound system isn't worth it, you'd be better off getting the basics and going aftermarket (actually the basic sound system sounds at least as good as the es). The leather seats are cut different from the cloth ones, try them both before deciding.
Good luck!
