Has anyone painted any body pieces on their car? DO you have pics? What kind of paint did you use?

i used touch up paint to color match my front emblem. You can get the touch up paint from your dealer for about $4. What are you thinking of painting?

I painted some new side skirts awhile back....used just standard base-coat, clear-coat 2 step. Paint matches damn perfect.

Well I have to play with photo shop a bit more before I answer that but I want to do some accenting but not in my color.

I believe it was Martin Senor which is NAPA's off-shoot of Du-Pont. Its just a standard emron paint, not ureathane or ureathane enamel, and just a couple of clear coats on top of the base. As to the color of paint, mine is mellineum red...paint code 22K which actually comes out to be passion red mica.

And it was all glossy and pretty like it was professional?

But of course!! if you're planning on doing some painting, which i assume you are, and you need some help with the mixing, application, etc just pm me and i'll try and help you out the best i can.

Cool! Thanks. Did you sand of the paint and then primer and then paint and then Gloss?

Yeah, the proper way to do it on new parts is a light sand with finishing grade sand paper, then a good prime coat, then apply the base coat, then apply the clear coat. It depends on what you're painting as to the type of primer you should use. Some plastics and urethanes require a special ABS primer, so you may want to check to be sure that you don't need that. Also different color paints require different color primers to really make the paint "pop" after the base coat is layed down. There lots of little tricks....I'm not a profesional painter by any stretch but I can usually make out ok. Lately I've been kind of experminting with doing flame jobs and scallops.

thanks for the compliment!!:D you can actually tell a little difference but only at like 1ft away. if you need some more advice just lemme know...be glad to help.

I wanna try and get something like this done this spring...sorry for the bad photoshop....

2 tone! That's cool. I thought about that but Yellow and Purple was very loud! I'm anxious to see the fast and furious 2 MP5

Hell yeah that two tone looks good...now all you need is some pearl blue or titanium gray ghost flames and that would be tight.

Mmmm.... Gost flames. I love ghost flames....

Any recommendations on designs for a Yellow P5?

What kind of color scheme are you goin for and what type of look are you trying to achive with your car..ie jdm, show car, racer...etc

Well... I'll be going into business for myself soon so I can't have anything too flashy (even though I have a Yellow one) but I want more than a pin stripe. I have neons inside that are Turquoise and Purple... I like how purple and Yellow look together but just haven't found the right design. I thought about two tone but it doesn't look right. I thought about doing the door gaurds and the handles but it looks funny... so...

On a yellow car i think the turquoise would look better than the purple. Personally if you want something that looks pretty cool, i think some splash graphics or maybe a checkered flame pattern would look good. If you wanted to something a little more understated maybe some tribal designs or some basic scallops. I've never seen a car look good with just various pieces painted...ie door handles and mirrors. To look good it needs to really flow into the main body color while accenting some understated pieces in the car such as your neons, wheel color, or interior trim colors. Check out http://www.bigdogmotorcycles.com/bigdogmodels/bigdoggraphicoptions/index.html for some good paint ideas. Granted they're on motorcycle tanks but you can expand them with a little imagination.
