My 2000 has had the CEL on for some time and I finally got around to checking it. P0421 and P0455. I know they are evap stuff and cat issues. Are they the kind of thing that I can just ignore for awhile and not fix or is it something that needs to be done asap. The car doesnt run any differently with the light on.

Actually yes it can cause long term damage for simple cheap fixes. With these codes the ecu will make the car run rich which has destroyed the precat (p0421) all you need is to replace the gas cap. Make sure you get one at Mazda. Do not get one from autozone, advanced,etc. as for the precat you can spend $1000 to fix it right or search the non fouler trick and spend $10
