Cracked IC pipe.......does worranty cover it?

I'm an idiot..........that's all i can say.

I installed MBC today and i think i was the reason this happened.

Anyway, my upper IC pipe got unglued where it connects to the BPV. My hand slipped and hit the pipe right at that spot. So now it leaks every time i boost.

I know some you u guys here had the same thing happen. Did dealler replace it for free? Did they b**** at all?
I think i can just say that it did it on it's own. What should i tell them?
Appointment is tomorrow (8/1/03) at 9:30 am.

MBC is coming off in 30 minutes once the car cools down.

Any help or comment is appreciated.

These pipes should not be coming apart this easy and in such a short period of time.Think what will happen as our cars age?

Good thing I'm almost ready to ship out the hard pipes huh?

Matt, if they replace it free of charge - fine, if not, then i'll definetly get your's.......

if they make me pay for that upper pipe it'll probably be close to $300 anyway. So i'd rather just get your's and not worry.

The dealership WILL replace the pipe. Take the MBC off before you take your car back, though. Seriously.

I've been waiting about a week or two now for that same pipe to get in from Mazda, so do not expect a speedy recovery. Tell them you still want your car and just go to AutoZone to pick up plastic tube epoxy. The kind with the two handles that you squeeze it out with and then mix. Also get some sandpaper.

Sand the ends of the joining pipes to get the first glue off and to roughen it up a bit then mix up your epoxy and layer it on. I mean layer it. Use ALL of the tube and make sure you get the epoxy ALL around the joint. The most annoying part will be having to hold the two pipes together as the epoxy hardens, but it WILL work. I've been driving my 'speed like this without any issues. Before I epoxied it, I tried duct tape, wire, and more tape but the tape will just melt and loose grip. The epoxy seems to hold the pipes better than stock. Amazingly good job, Mazda.

(And I was at stock boost, with a K&N cone the night it came apart. Wasn't even on it, I was just pulling out of the car meet and my car just sputtered and stalled out. A few minutes to look around and make sure no one saw me; then I called OrangeMSP to come rescue me.)

Anyways, just epoxy the mofo while Mazda orders a new one and take the MBC off even though you just put it on. Some guys will see it and say 'nuh-uh' cause the MBC is on there and you've just set yourself up for a legal battle.

same thing happened to mine i got that replaced. took a week to get the part in. its bad glue. itll get a TSB if enough of em break off. it shouldnt just come off like that. oh well thats a reason to get the hard pipe upgrade.

the funny thing is that only half of the molding came appart, so it's still pretty tight untill u try to bent it. The car runs ok...........so far

i hope i wont have to fight with them. Damn it, i hate confrontations

oh yeah, and i took the MBC off...........that only leaves the FPR kit hopefully they wont notice it.

FPR kit won't have *ANY* effect on the piping from the BPV to the I/C even if they did try to say it did. The MBC, however, is a bit more easily blameable (if that's a word...)
