Hey, I have been reading some things on here about the alarm and it's sensitivity. I noticed mine would never go off no matter ho hard you banged on the glass so I went to turn it up yesterday and found that the shock sensor was ZIP TIED to a wire harness by the steering column :wtf: .. How the hell is that ever going to pick up shock? Who does the install- my sales man said they do it at the dealer when I bought it- I want to make sure that is who did it so I know who to b**** out :)..

Also- I read in a thread about the 03.5 that someone that bought an 03.5 had two shift knobs with it. When we test drove ours it had the sparco one on it and a stock looking one in the glove box. When my fiancee pulled it out the sales man took it and said "oh yeah, someone must have put that there." is that supposed to come with the car or not?

I know that if a loud-ass rumbling jeep 4X4 goes by my MAZDASPEED; it alarms. This happened a few weeks ago. It has even sounded when there was a loud clap of thunder (really loud).

I got the one Sparco shift knob.

do you know where your shock sensor is mounted? I really don't think it should be zip tied to a wire harness :).

It's under the steering column. It's a black box; with a white knob on it, I believe.

I think it is just tied up under there....
But; it's spooky under there, and dark. I ain't lookin'.

2 shift knobs? prob the left in there when they were assembling it at the plant. you know our cars got hand assembled at the mazda america plant (the stuff not found in a ES)

As a MECP certified installer (retired, I work on people now) with about 8 years experience, I will say that through my experience, the shock sensor is best when zip-tied to a firm wiring harness, like the main ignition loom. If it gets screwed down to a plastic or metal surface it gets more sensitive to low frequency resonance. Changing the position of the sensor may fix your sensitivity problems. Turn the sensor veritcal by sliding it around the harness under the zip tie. Or vise-a-versa. I then adjust it so that a firm closed fisted thump on the left windshield pillar will light it up. I rarely had customer complaints about sensitivity.

Thanks!!! I actually found the instructions for the alarm install with all my paper work and it does get zip tied... I think it it eitehr on the wrong harness or it is fastened too loosely. I have to check it later. It is turned all the way up and you have to really bang on the glass HARD for it to go off..
